Every year there are at least two pairs of Eclipses, one Lunar and One Solar. The second half of these pairs takes place in September this year (the first half was in March). Sept 7 th is the Lunar Eclipse at 15′ Pisces and on Sept 22 nd we have the Solar Eclipse at 29′ Virgo. Together Virgo and Pisces represent the archetypes of service and spirituality, as well as pets, employees, drugs, and many of our financial and business dealings – including (but not limited to) property matters. The most relevant world affairs affected by these eclipses are matters of oil, religion and overseas business dealings . In retrospect, the oil crises began to be an everyday problem for every American back in March when prices began to skyrocket – during the first pair of Eclipses. Eclipse events are usually triggered when a planet crosses that degree within a few months ahead of or after the actual Eclipse takes place. Secrecy and matters of public or hidden information, as well as war and money are the main themes of the month.
The Lunar Eclipse: Mars – the god of War - opposed (past tense) this Eclipse degree on August 16 th . Matters of war become unsettled, and previously hidden information or agendas are revealed – and acted upon. Mercury opposes this Eclipse degree on Sept 5 th . Whatever is in the news is the theme of the Eclipse and reveals the issues and problems that have been triggered by it. Venus crosses (opposes) this eclipse degree on the 18 th . The effects of the mid-August Mars action now have residual effects on finances, money and business – something suddenly appears in plain view that relates to commerce, finance and financial value. Health and service industries are likely to be effected.
The Solar Eclipse: This is one of the most relevant dates all year for the US. This Eclipse takes place on the United States Neptune (Oil, Churches, foreign affairs, Real Estate, Forex, Commodities, and the Federal Exchange). Mars joined this Eclipse degree on August 27 th . This could represent a newsworthy hidden or secret military action on or around the 27 th . At the very least, passive aggressive and secretly treacherous behavior is amplified in the world. On Sept. 12 th Mercury joins this degree. News and motion related to earlier events are on the airwaves. Look for what is hidden, and read between the lines. Venus joins the ACTUAL Solar Eclipse on the 22 nd . It is more than likely that the US will experience an event that affects our economy, real estate, foreign affairs and oil business. Obviously such events are the crises that release the energy that has been building for many years around these areas. The Chinese see Crises as Chaos joined with Opportunity. Be prepared – opportunity exists for some, problems for others. The differences are in how prepared we are for the unexpected.
Aries (3/21-4/20)– You are deeply involved with the drama unfolding this month. Not only are you in the center of it all, but you may have to do a great deal about it all. Secret actions are very possible – which is not your usual MO. By the end of the month, you may find yourself questioning your leader or leadership – this could be the sign that it is time for you to step up and take the reigns yourself. Yaaargh, I smell mutiny. Taurus (4/21-5/21)– You’re not usually in the same boat as Aries, but you find yourself on their team this month. Not only that, but you can use your sway over financial matters to pull off the unexpected or upturn an apple cart full of rotten Granny Smith’s. That’s one apple pie, I’ll be glad to miss out on.
Gemini (5/22-6/22)– You might want to follow your Aries, Taurus, Scorpio and Libra friends around with a camera to capture all the action. Well, on second thought, you may need to follow everyone around to capture it all. Just keep your recording tools handy. There will be plenty to capture and people won’t believe it all without evidence.
Cancer (6/23-7/22)– This month, perhaps your Moods need a ‘League of their own’ – to make room for your deeply felt and held convictions. Convictions are interesting, they have a way of turning into a sentence if not examined frequently. The Universe is giving you the keys to commute your sentence and get out of your own convictions – even if change is uncomfortable, it creates freedom.
Leo (7/23-8/22)– Something or someone is so completely filled with emotion that you will just HAVE to listen to them. I hope so at least. Dismissing or ignoring apparently irrational people will only lead to violence – and I don’t think you want that. No matter how much you disagree with them, you’ve got to admire conviction and passion.
Virgo (8/23-9/22)â€â€Partnerships are anything but smooth and routine now. Don’t expect anything to sail smoothly, as secrets are revealed and intrigue amplified. With more plot twists than a murder mystery dinner theatre; what’s really going on is anyone’s guess. I wouldn’t even count on the living room couch to be as it seems right now.
Libra (9/23-10/22)– “Let them eat Cake’ was Marie Antoinette’s famously flip remark when the French peasants rioted in the streets for food. There is something surreal going on this month that recalls the days of French excess that led to Marie’s famous moment. Are you Marie, King Luis XVI or the peasants who had their heads?
Scorpio (10/23-11/22)– What do our fantasies say about us? And what do our friend’s fantasies say about them? We can over-indulge in all matters, including our thoughts and fantasies. Decadence is most interesting when it is turned upside down – as it is this month. It’s like living in a Rorschach test.
Sagittarius (11/23-12/22)– Inshallah is an Arab saying that means ‘God willig.’ It is also the term used to describe Iraqi soldiers who shoot from the hip without training or aim. Of course you always want god to be willing and helpful and on your side, but a little skill is the insurance you can provide for yourself, after that all will go well: Inshalla.
Capricorn (12/23-1/21)– In the midst of all the topsy-turvy of the world a single note of clarity rings through, It is the clarity of someone who can give an order with conviction and create some form of unity and momentum behind them. You have it in you to ring the clarion call to clarity and to leverage the pressure towards a great change of momentum. Seize it or lose it.
Aquarius (1/22-2/20)– How many Aquarii does it take to screw in a light bulb? Whom ever doesn’t get electrocuted. We said screw in a light bulb, not light up a screwball. This has been the big subject on the minds of Astrologers lately: Saturn opposing Neptune for about the next year. And with good reason, it is a very hard and challenging aspect for us to get through. Most immediately it will be felt throughout September 2006 very strongly.
September is a very challenging month because of this and because of the two Eclipses that will fall then as well. One Lunar Eclipse is on Sept 7 at 15′ Pisces, and the Solar is on Sept 22 at 29′ Virgo. Both of these Eclipses get a handful of hits from Venus, Mercury and most disturbing of all - Mars. The Solar Eclipse of the 22nd takes place exactly on the USA Neptune. I will speak about this in the confernece call on the 16th - sign up in the blue box at the bottom of the page if you want to participate.
September promises to be a dramatic month. One of the interpretations of the above aspects that I included in my September column (written last month) is that there are likely to be covert military actions. We just had 24 people arrested in the USA for a terrorist plot. That’s exactly what I was referring to, and we aren’t out of the woods on this until well into October. Expect to hear much more of this type of thing in the news. Other area to be effected: the economy, real estate, oil and others. The handwriting is on the wall; war.
Not every day is bad, and it’s not bad for every person. The difference is in the aspects of each DAY, and the aspects that each PERSON is getting on that date. It’s way too complicated to go into in a blog post. But there are a lot of variables here - and some people may prosper and do extremely well - even during a crisis.
Overall Saturn opposed to Neptune brings most people tough spiritual lessons. Addictions, fantasies and escapism runs rampant as well as immaturity and the refusal to take personal responsabilty. On the other side of that coin; people who are spiritually mature and responsible are able to step in and clean up crisis left behind by selfish, cruel, or parasitic people. None of this is easy. This opposition is also extremely hard on people’s relationships - breaking up the ones that aren’t strong, and causing challenges to the ones that are strong. Money and corporate business is not favored by this aspect either. We can expect to feel a general drying up of resources and a sense of increased financial limitations. This aspect will be very hard on corporate businesses, and retirement funds are likely to disappear even more than they have already.
Saturn - Neptune opposition causes things to break down and not function well. Cars, computers, appliances, things that you are used to relying on become unreliable. The oil crisis effects every area of our lives, either through cost or through inconvenience. Computer viruses are rampant: especially on PC platforms. Anti-virus software isn’t that helpful. A real solution is to Deep Freeze your computer. This article offers a real solution, and I hope you use it, it is the best computer advice I have ever gotten (and I don’t even use a PC). Even the internet and internet systems are not likely to be safe during this year of transits. Have backup solutions available for any problem. I’m not kidding. Be prepared.
Rebellion is another likely manifestation of the opposition. But rebellion against what is the real question. With problems being so diffuse and pervasive some people may just rage generally at the world. There is a real conflict between the idea of ubercontrol from authoriatative forces and impotent rage with no useful direction to focus it. Be sure to find a middle path, focus efforts effectively and control the only thing you have the power to control - yourself. The book, “The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People”, and it’s follow up “The 8th Habit”, have a lot to say about this.
Basically the areas to pay close attention to at this time are:
retirement funds
copyrights and infringement issues
legacies
strategies for dealing with cost of oil impact on every day living
Computer protection
alternative sources for power
Furthermore: be highly careful and watchful for deceptive people - especially in the effected areas of Religion (Neptune) and Politics (Aquarius) while Neptune in Aquarius is getting hard aspects from Saturn. People who preach sunshine and roses are lying - plain and simple. Hard truths are true. Don’t shoot the messenger and pay attention to people who look at reality - NOT Fantasy.
This is where the greatest spiritual lessons are likely to lie for the most people - in seperating pretty lies from hard, cold (and often not so pretty) truths. Those who can see things as they really are find themselves poised for leadership in the tough times that this aspect represents.
**One final point that I’d like to make here is that this single Aspect; Saturn opposed to Neptune is not the whole story - not for the country, the world or any individual. There is much more to see. This is an overview of what we can expect for the next year. So take precautions and pay attention to the facts, and you will be just fine!
My fellow Astrologers would gasp. They would faint and they would clutch their chests if they heard me saying this - but it’s true. “Sun Sign Astrology Sucks! It doesn’t really work - Especially for romatic compatablity.” and someone should have my head for daring to say such a thing while at the same time claiming to be an Astrologer - and a Horoscope Columnist.
No, I don’t use Sun Sign Astrology (not even in my Horoscope Column!); and here’s why. It is just too general. It will NOT, I repeat, it will NOT tell you enough to really KNOW if you are compatable with another person. There are a few simple reasons for this.
#1) The symbolism of the planets is the first rule to using Astrology correctly. The Sun is the outward, MALE side of the personality. This would make a little bit of sense if we were talking about only male-male relationships. Sun Sign Astrology began in ancient Rome; a culture where Male-Male romantic and sexual relationships was more common than not. It made some sense in that context, and makes some sense in the context of gay relationships and business relationships - but that is ALL.
But we’re not talking about that context in most of today’s society (Although I love gay people, and always wish happiness for all people’s relationships). In society we’re talking about the whole range of human relationships - especially male-female romantic ones. Sun Sign Astrology simply ignores the entire feminine principle altogether - the MOON. You just can’t look at a single relationship that involves a woman - or emotions for that matter - without paying some attention to the feminine principle!
The Single simplist ‘Western’ Astrology principle you can use to understand a Male-Female relationship is to look at the relationship between both the SUN and the MOON between the two people’s charts. But this is too complicated for your local newspaper or magazine to talk about - so it is completely ignored.
#2) The Moon simply moves too quickly for any column to take into account. The entire cycle that takes the SUN a full year to complete takes only 28 days for the MOON. Yikes! We’re talking about some seriously different cycles of time. Hmm. that could explain a lot about the differences between the sexes - don’t you think? So, to effectively use the Moon we pinpoint the New and Full Moon Cycles as New beginnings and Completions, respectively.
There are however some very neet little ways that the Moon and Sun compliment each other (just like the Male-Female principles are divinely complimentary). The Moon cycle is roughly equal to the time the Sun spends in each Sun Sign. I said roughly, if you want to debate this point with me then we can get into a whole discussion of the inaccurate Gregorian Calendar and why our current Time Keeping system is a LIE that is based on the EGO of the Roman Caesars like Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar. Those Emperors of Rome kept stealing days from February and giving them to thier own Birth Month to make them more important. Julias Caesar was born in July - so he stole a day from February and gave July an extra day - making HIS month more important! And today we schedule our lives based on this calendar! Blech. What has this got to do with REALITY? Nothing!
The reality is that Each Sun Sign is effective for just about the same length as each Moon Cycle. The Native American Astrology is based on the Moon cycle you were born under and uses 27 different symbols. The Mayans had the only truly accurate system for telling time ever recorded in our history books. But we’re kind of stuck with the system we’ve got - even if it IS a tyranny of falsehood. It is perhaps the biggest and most damaging LIE upon which our entire world is based.
TIME IS COMING TO AN END - YEAH! Not only is this falsehood called time coming to an end - but it is a really good thing too! We are coming to a point - in our lifetime - where the falsehood of time will be overturned. But that is the subject for another post: so stay tuned.
Back to the Sun and Moon. Even though we undervalue the Moon and Astronomers call her nasty names like ‘dead satellite’ she is every bit as important to the Earth as the Sun. Without her we would not have tides, we would not have rest, and nothing would ever grow or live on our planet. In a sort of divine symbolism this seems illustrated by an interesting fact: The Sun is hundreds (if not thousands) of times larger than the Moon, and yet from our perspective here on Planet Earth they appear exactly the same size. There is something of a divine proportion at work here between the SUN and the MOON. Different but equal. Each requiring the other to create and nurture life on our delicate Green planet.
Just like the Male and Female genders. Different but Equal. It takes both to make life: no matter what the scientists in the labs want to believe. Even when they create a test-tube life; they are still using the male and female principles in equal balance. They are simply acting as agents for the transaction. They are not God. They just play one on TV. Even though God would permit this - it does happen after all, and I haven’t yet seen a thunderbolt crash down from heaven into the science lab. Even though God permits this, it does not give the scientists God-like powers (even if they think it does!).
So if you want to grasp a real principle that you can use to make Astrology actually WORK for you - then learn about the Moon - and balance your knowledge of the Sun Sign with the divine principles of the MOON: magnetism, community, family, rest, reflection, meditation, prayer and on and on. These are every bit as important as the outward focus and goal/success orientation of the Sun in order to create Magic, Chemistry, Life, Love and Manifestation.
FURTHERMORE: The Ancient cultures of Asia have already learned this. That is why their Astrology system is based on the 13 Month MOON cycle. This is equally relevant for both men and women, because it uses the Solar Year (Masculine) measured in the 13 Lunar Cycles (Feminine).
