The end of October and just about all of November is filled with tough aspects.
But all is not lost, there is good news for those who are A) getting good transits from this rough patch of stars and B) those who can tackle problems and transform them into advantages: This is a rare gift that I like to call “The Golden Path” and which is the title of my book about harnessing the Secrets of the Subconscious Mind.
Please don’t be put off by the technical language I use in the following list. Below is a list of the major trends that occur in late October and November:
Oct 25 Jupiter Saturn Square
Oct 27 Sun and Venus Square Chiron (Occultation of Venus Mars Chiron) (H)Venus Mars conjuct opposed the Earth
Oct 30 Mars Square Chiron
Saturn trine Pluto until December
Nov 3-13 Bi Level T-Square of Saturn opposed Neptune square Venus at mid fixed degrees
Nov 3-19 Stellium of Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Sun at mid-late degrees of Scorpio. This Stellium makes a T-square to Saturn and Neptune.
First week of November: Occultation of Saturn to Sun, Venus, Moon and Mars/***Occultation of Neptune to Sun, Venus & Moon***
ELECTION DAY – November 7 ***Grand Trine at 16′/17′ air signs. But this is a weak Grand Trine*** Occultation of Merc, Sun. Earth (Nov 7-8)
Nov 8 – 14 (H) T-Square of Saturn Opposed Neptune square the Earth
Nov 24-Dec 2 Bi Level T-Square of Neptune – Opposed Saturn squared by Mars
Mercury Retrograde: Entered the Doorway (shadow) Oct 9 (9′Scorpio), Station Retrograde on Oct 28 (25′ Scorpio), Station Direct Nov 18 (9′ Scorpio). Leaves the Doorway Dec 4/5 (25′ Scorpio) on the Gemini Full Moon (13′ Gemini).
Again, I apologize for the technical language. I will explain what all of this means on the Nov 1 conference call. This information is extremely useful, once you know how to read it, which is why I have posted it.
What does this mean for you? I will explain some simple tools you can use to put the complicated language of the stars to work FOR YOU in the Nov 1 conference call.

These are the building blocks upon which the entire chart is based. Learn these well, because you will always use them. An abundance of one element makes it very powerful in that chart, but just as importantly an absence of an element makes it exceedingly important. An absence exists when there are only 1 or less planets in a given element. When this happens we get the phenomenon that Psychologists call overcompensation. The chart will exhibit extreme and marked aspects of the missing element and may appear to the outside observer to be EXTRA similar to the missing element.
For example a person with no water in their chart may be very sensitive, cry easily or be extroardinarily fascinated with the world of psychic expression and abilities – even more so than someone who naturally has these qualities in thier own chart. Even if they appear very water like, this is usually in a way that is foreign to them, like a child wearing a parents shoes. This person will have life lessons associated with the missing element and with people of that missing element.
FIRE – the element of passion, enthusiasm, and excitement. In it’s purest form Fire represents energy. Sports, causes, adventure, riots, and joi d’vivre are all within its domain. It is equivalent to Wands in the Tarot Deck and in playing cards the suit of Clubs. Fire is the life force behind all things, ever driving the process of experience forward. It is causal spiritual energy.
EARTH – this element represents solid tangible objects, money, resources and all things tactile. You will find commerce, construction, materialism and agriculture under its influence. In Tarot the equivalent is Pentacles or Diamonds in the deck of playing cards. Earth is the physical experience of life, and the lessons that physicality represents. It is solid and practical.
AIR – represents ideas concepts and wind. Words, laws, communication, strategy and wars are all under its governance. In Tarot Air is equal to swords, or Spades in playing cards. Air is the mental or intellectual experienced of life. It is conceptual and logical.
WATER – conveys emotion, feeling, the subconscious and unification. Consumables, plumbing, religion, imagination and dreams all belong to its realm. It equals Cups in Tarot and Heats in playing cards. Water is the emotional spiritual bonding and nourishment we seek and need. It is changeable, malleable and persistent.
The Qualities CARDINAL – Represents leadership, independence and beginnings. Cardinal signs are often the ‘bosses’ of their jobs, or work for themselves. Within it’s element Cardinal people pioneer new terrain. In fire (Aries) it represents new terrains to conquer and the enthusiasm to start things. In water (Cancer) it represents emotional new beginnings, forming families, groups and places that fulfill our emotional, spiritual needs. In Air (Libra) it signifies beginnings of new ideas, such as laws, and artistic aesthetics. In Earth (Capricorn) it represents beginnings of material ventures such as business licenses and the structures and buildings associated with these beginnings.
FIXED – signs are the organizers and system makers of the Zodiac. These are the people who create order and form from the beginnings taken by the Cardinal people. In Earth (Taurus) this takes the form of systems for exchange and commerce, such as banking, barter and the structuring of assets and resources. In Fire (Leo) this takes the form of order among personalities and the hierarchy of popularity and such ranking systems, as well as the creation of plans for the promotion of personality, enthusiasm and excitement, such as concerts. In Water (Scorpio) this structure is represented in the creation of shared ventures, merging, bonding (sexuality) and organizing emotional things into contained, or useful spaces, such as recycling, or undertaking. In Air (Aquarius) this quality represents pinning down ideas and concepts into a constant form, such as in a mathematical equation or by tying musical notes into scales or songs, or by testing, verifying and recording scientific absolutes like gravity, the speed of light or quantum physics.
MUTABLE – these are the go-betweens of the Horoscope. Mutable is changeable and negotiative by nature, constantly relaying back and forth between two outside elements. In Air (Gemini) this takes the form of ideas, and concepts through words, sales, communication devices or the Internet. In Earth (Virgo) this energy is represented by monitoring states of physical experience through such outlets as gardening, nursing, or physical exercise. In Fire (Sagittarius) the negotiation of that which people become passionate about takes center stage through things like myth, storytelling and cultural or philosophical negotiation. In Water (Pisces) this go-between is represented by the movement between conscious and sub-conscious needs, ideas and desires in the creation of fantasies, religions, glamour, and mystical, ecstatic or altered states of consciousness.
Those of you who read my blog will be aware of my past stories about the Neptune – Saturn opposition and just how destructive it is (you can click on the link to read the post). Today we woke up to a news story that confirms many of our worst fears about the unrest in the world – specifically North Korea where they successfully tested a Nuclear bomb. Actually Kim Jong Il tested a nuclear bomb, and it is his Birth Chart that is relevant today as I look at this subject Astrologically.
The highlights here are that Kim Jong Il is experiencing his own Saturn Return (actually his second). Remember 2004-5 when GW Bush experienced his second Saturn Return? His approval ratings began to hit the floor at that time. Kim Jong Il’s natal Saturn is conjunct Natal Pluto indicating that any dark angry or power/control impulses in his nature are about as extreme as they could possibly be. Neptune is opposing HIS Saturn as well as the Transiting Saturn which is why he is a key player in the Astrological world drama that is taking place now – and for another full year. Saturn Opposed to Neptune is very hard on life, and shortens the lifespan of gadgets and living things. With Kim Jong Il’s Saturn being opposed by Neptune, we can make it a safe bet that he has nothing but the worst intentions with his Nuclear development program and should expect that he fully intends to use these bombs to kill people.
Also Jupiter is squaring Saturn, as well as Squaring Kim Jong Il’s natal Saturn, indicating a 3rd act Star Wars style battle between Galactic forces. The better forces of the world always overcome; but at what price first? Jupiter against Kim Jong Il’s Saturn and Pluto only enforce his rage. Jupiter brings the World law into play in it’s attempts to put him in check – but he is unlikely to behave. And because he has a double Saturn influence, he can and will fight dirty. But this is a two way sword and other aspects indicate that his life is in danger, particularly in early November (which, by the way is a horrible month Astrologically). I doubt we will hear about it in the news but I expect the US (and others) will deploy secret forces to ‘take out’ the problem person.
But if he does make it though the fall, then his rage and agenda reach a dangerous crisis point by early February. So Kim Jong Il might not survive for too long to continue his agenda, but we know he is not alone and that he has allies. This is where the problems get thick and tricky. And I expect the next two months to be filled with dramas that we are not really prepared for, and which can’t all be traced just to North Korea – although this is a key player. Certainly our safety will seem more comfortable if he is out of the picture. But the real problem here is the Pandora’s box that the Nuclear proliferation opens, since it is not a stretch to take such weapons power and dispurse it all over the volatile Middle East. So even if the threat of North Korea is contained, we are not out of the Astrological woods with Saturn and Neptune for another year, and that bears preparation.
I don’t like to be a doomsday writer, but I do think we all need to be prepared to see things that we all hoped we would never have to see in our lives. and I also think now is the time to strengthen community ties so that should the worst happen, we have our network and a strategy in place to care for our families and loved ones. If Katrina taught us anything, it is that the Government is neither prepared nor inclined to take care of all it’s citizens. We MUST be prepared ourselves. And I see this as a wake up call to anyone who has not yet thought through a plan and a strategy for coping with worst case scenarios – should they come to pass.
We all need to pray for the best, but prepare for the worst.
October 2006Welcome to Chakra Astrology. This look reflects the wisdom of the ancients. Each sign is ruled by one of the 7 planets (stars) that can be seen in the sky with our eyes. From the top down, they are: Jupiter, the Moon, Venus, Mercury, the Sun, Mars and Saturn. These 7 planets equate with the 7 Chakras, which is reflected by the colors below. Each sign is color coded to match the Chakra it corresponds with.General forecast for October:
The biggest overall trend to remember right now is that we are experiencing a moment of good humor and higher ideals triumhing over lower natures and small mindedness on some deeply profound levels. This may not always be obvious or apparent in the moment, but this is the long-term outcome of any current challenges and crises. Just remember to keep your sense of humor – Read my last post: Studio 60, Saturn, the Devil and Divine Comedy to understand why!
There are crises and there is conflict that continues from last month. The aspects through this fall are extremely challenging and destructive to many old, established systems. The hard questions and the hard problems face us impatiently. When there are no easy answers this results in pain and heartbreak in the world. The world faces such a time of reckoning now. Many people will be affected; those who will have the hardest time in these times are people who are not taking responsibility for themselves and their own well being. We are each being asked at this time to be responsible for our own needs – physically and spiritually – and not count on the company, the government, or even the health care system, the spiritual leader or financial advisor to have our best interests in mind. We must educate ourselves, and take actions for ourselves.
Not all of October is horrible, but there are some very tough times here. And there are always people who succeed and prosper no matter how challenging their surroundings and circumstances. The difference is usually in an attitude, and preparedness. The good news is that in November we get some truly great and rare Astrological blessings – allowing us to recover and find hope and an inner light after the challenges of September and October.Ever wonder about Astrology that Works? Sagittarius (11/23-12/22)– You are known for your bluntness, but this is one month when silence has more power than all the bulls in Pamplona. Goodness and kindness will triumph over pettiness and smallness of spirit, and they will do so much more quickly if you can stay out of the way. The showdown this month leaves true spiritual principles holding the reigns, so no matter how strong the temptation, don’t try to push the river.
Pisces (2/21-3/19)– What is the confusion all about? Mostly it is about anything and everything that hasn’t been nailed down in concrete, tangible mutual agreements. Your hands are more than full fixing problems, so you’d best be sure that the system is fixed before you try to expand it, the last thing you want is for small problems to turn into big ones.
Cancer (6/23-7/22)– This months Moon cycles focus on partnerships and the balance of power and resources within them. That which is out of balance must be addressed and reconciled. Deling with red tape, procedures and delving under the surface will bring powerful transformation and positive results to even the most challenging moments.
Libra (9/23-10/22)– Needing partnership and railing against it at the same time, puts you in the position of hating what you love, or cutting yourself off from the thing you need most. Sure business is favored this month, but what good is it if your heart is conflicted? Now is the time to mend fences, broken hearts and stretched patience.
Taurus (4/21-5/21)– Power dramas early in the month make this a bad time to start new things. Troubles melt away after the 11 th leaving you in the position to set up a long-term windfall and gain the active support you need to accomplish these goals. Not even that camping herd of elephant can stop you now. My money is on you taming them and going for a wild ride.
Virgo (8/23-9/22)– Philosophical debate is not something that anyone is likely to be able to put aside this month, least of all you. Remember, point of view is changeable, the feelings in one’s heart are written in time. Mind is less important than soul. Argument, point of view and ideas are rocks that erode under the tide of spirit.
Gemini (5/22-6/22)– You are right in the middle of a wildly swinging see-saw this month. And though you can almost always balance both sides of an argument, your stomach isn’t that strong. Sometimes the best way to solve problems is to get out of the way of them. You are light-footed enough to recognize when your exit cue arrives.
Leo (7/23-8/22)– It’s not impossible that you might break into a rousing rendition of “we are family†now, as you gather your tribe of brethren around you. There are few things in life that make you feel more proud, connected and joyful than looking around and knowing you are where you belong – at the center of your tribe.
Aries (3/21-4/20)– Even if you find yourself buried in dysfunction stew this month, you will have a knack for getting the words straight and deepening your rapport with allies and partners and striking long-term deals as long as you don’t allow yourself to become a player in the drama. What makes for good TV has unpleasant consequences in real life.
Scorpio (10/23-11/22)– Trial by fire is an ultimate test of spiritual mettle. You are up to the challenge, especially if you remember that the ultimate yardstick isn’t against anybody else, but rather against your own highest self and spiritual principles. Spoken principles are put to the test now, and living them brings great satisfaction and rewards by months end.
Aquarius (1/22-2/20)– To listen and to hear are two different things. Hearing requires going beyond the words and absorbing the message behind the syllables. Real hearing is not a function of the ears, but of the heart. Obstacles to communication this month allow you to discern the difference between the two and replace eardrums with heartbeats.
Capricorn (12/23-1/21)– Hard work brings rewards. I’m sure that you’d like things to go a little smoother for you in the future, and to make that happen, then now is the time to show your kind and gentle side. I know it’s in there and the more you can make them laugh, the quicker problems will disappear – the ultimate weapon this month is good humor.
