The Question: Hi Aura,
You do have the most refreshing, unusual and complete “take†on astrology that I have witnessed. Having said that, here are two questions involving solar eclipses. My birthdate is (OK, I hate saying this!,) 8/9/1942, Columbus, Ohio, 1:37am. On May 30/31/2003 a solar eclipse hit my Gemini ascendant with Saturn & Uranus conjuncting. Difficult, difficult circimstances followed. Still dealing with them, but understanding them somewhat.It was hell & I did not even see what the circumstances or consequences would be, even though I knew that it was happening. I stayed up all night during the eclipse, speaking to my Higher Self & meditating. Too late. The path that I had chosen was wrong & I knew it. Now, I will be having my Neptune (28+ Virgo)in the fifth house opposed by this eclipse. I know that it involves my children who I love so much, but we have taken different paths. I have known for several years that my relationship with my two beloveds must make a major change in some way. I have been consciously on a spiritual path, most likely since birth. They are not. They are fabulous people, very brilliant, very successful & do everything “right†in the outer world. I have been told inwardly that there would be a break with them for many, many years. No special people allowed for me & I must give my life over to the Creator, no matter how much it hurts. I mostly hurt and feel guilty from being distant from three beautiful grandchildren.
Any advice? I could sure use it. This is very painful & I need to know that I am on the correct track.

The Answer: First of all, thank you Maryanne.
Well this is half an Astrology Question and half not. First the Astrology part: Any Eclipse that involves Saturn will be a really difficult one, as you said it was for you. But the interesting thing here is that the Eclipse hit Saturn and Uranus. Saturn is the Rulemaker and Uranus is the Rulebreaker. Both connect to the Root Chakra which is the primal level of existence, and survival issues. This primal level operates under the divine law, “The law of laws.” which basically states that we must become aware of the laws and work within them – or suffer the consequences. Everything on earth and in the Universe operates under sets of laws. Gravity, for example is inescapable on planet Earth. So, beyond the circumstaces you are working through, the lesson here is for you to get perfectly clear about the laws of you life and how you are either blindly obeying false laws (not based on spiritual truth) or blindly rebelling against actual laws that must be obeyed. This requires getting clear about what those laws are, and how to work with them to your benefit. Of course the challenge is trying to see that which you may not be aware of, sometimes outside help can be necessary.
Second is your question about the current Eclipse opposed to your Neptune in the 5th. Please refer to my Eclipse Interpretations Guidelines post to see how I suggest you look at it. Basically Neptune can mean a lot of things – and your children is not necessarily the area where it will manifest. What IS true, and what IS based on divine law is the truth that whatever you focus on will expand. So if you don’t want problems with your kids, then stop focusing on that idea. Remember, focusing on problems expands them. If you want a good relationship with them – then focus on your common ground and your love for them. One thing that is certain is that if you keep your focus where it is right now, then you will keep having the problems you are having. The good news here is that all you have to do is take command of the ship that is your life and steer it somewhere else!
And finally, perhaps it is a good idea to rethink your idea of spirit or god or universe. After all, who want’s to live under the tyranny of spiritual cruelty that keeps you apart from what you love. If you believe this to be true, then I guarantee that it will be. If you change your concepts and bring them into alignment with divine truth – then these problems do not have to be true – not by a long shot. But in order for anything to change, you must be willing to captain your ship and take it to clearer waters, or get the outside assistance that will show you how.

Right around the 1st Mercury finally makes good on the promises he was making 6 weeks ago (and you thought the little trickster was just lying). But it may be a case of too little too late and you might not even be interested any more.
But, by mid to late April we all have big opportunities to work out any lingering problems and make some REAL and significant headway on our dreams. Powerful alignments support progress, growth and new, well-organized systems for getting things done. At least one super talented individual will emerge at this time. Not only that, but particularly long-term and effective solutions or plans can be brought into reality at this time. There is an extraordinary amount of power available this month. This is absolutely the best month I have seen in years – so make the most of it!!

Aries – It’s all about getting a fresh start this month, especially after the 17th. Even if this new beginning means you had to give something up that you were attached to, you will soon feel a sense of freedom and excitement from this fresh spring energy that is flowing through your veins. It all boils down to love and family and what that means to you. Now is the time to align your actions with your desires so that you can have what you want AND what you need.
Taurus – While Venus is at home with you this month; whatever you most desire is irresistibly drawn directly to you. Some call it “The Secret,” I call it the Venus principle and you have always known about it. But now, mighty Venus herself smiles upon you and gives you the power to work your wiles in ways that are irresistible – bringing you a deeply cherished goal, dream or desire.
Gemini – Your Mercury hero is successfully swatting at flies this month. And while his success and vigilance is admirable, perhaps rethinking your strategy would be more useful. While so much opportunity is available to you – not to mention the ability to sway and influence people – perhaps Mercury could be put to better use. Resolve this month to focus on goals and not on problems – be they real or imagined.
Cancer – For the first half of the month you want to resolve and clear up any endings you have with past partners or relationships that are over. Tying up those loose ends gives you the freedom around the 17th to take full advantage of the new opportunity that begins. This could either signal a new cycle that opens in your career or one that may dramatically shift your worldly status in some way; i.e.: marriage, promotion, new job title. Either way, there could be some major changes underway for you this spring.
Leo – Your long-term outlook looks the best it has for months, finally! Early in the month you might feel yourself teetering between to vastly opposing forces and trying to make something worthwhile out of it. Overall, you have great powers of transformation at your disposal this month, especially until the 19th while the Sun is still hanging out with your pal the Ram in action oriented Aries.
Virgo – Someone has a real way with words this month. The poetry sliding from their lips is enough to make anyone swoon, and even my levelheaded Virgin friends are not immune. It’s ok to enjoy the fantasy, just as long as you can remember that it IS a fantasy. Meanwhile, your goals and dreams are much better served if you can put that heavy dose of magical charm to work in your own sales pitches, business meetings and personal agendas.
Libra – Opportunity abounds. There are giant chances now for you to express your values and make them clear and have them be heard and acted upon, so don’t waste the day. The only problems could arise if you are unclear about exactly what those values ARE, or if somehow your actions are not consistent with those values. Remember the sage words,’ above all else, to thine own self be true.’
Scorpio – There’s something of an inner tug-of-war taking place now, and the sooner you can resolve it the sooner you can go out and grab the brass ring that seems to be hanging just beyond your reach. It’s all there, so close you can almost taste it, but there’s something holding you back, standing in your way and causing you to question weather you should go for it. Remember, the losing team never writes History.
Sagittarius – You seem to have dodged a bullet and made it out of harms way. Not only that but if you are clever this month, you can find a way to make your problems actually work FOR you. In fact you may have to, so don’t be shy. What seems to be resolved now may return in early May, so this is the ideal time to prepare and set your strategy.
Capricorn – A shared identity or career is now changing in some way. Perhaps now is the time for you to listen to your inner emotional urgings and get what you really want. The time is over for standing in someone else’s shadow, it is now the day for you to speak your own mind, lead from the heart and above all, clearly state what you want and need. You may be surprised at just how easily (and quickly) you get it.
Aquarius – You seem to know that you need to gain attention and recognition for what you are doing, and I agree. Right now there are some opportunities for you to do this, but I recommend more short-term deals for now. Be extra careful that whomever you get involved with (personally or professionally) doesn’t have an undue amount of power or control over your actions and plans, or you may regret it later.
Pisces – If anyone can make headway on long-term plans this month, it’s you. You have quite a head for business now, and meetings should go well, especially since you are such a tough negotiator. Everybody always says you are flighty, but you and I know that’s just a tactic for distracting others and getting what you want – you clever fishes!

The Answer: You are a Pisces. Guy #1 that you talk about is a Taurus and based on your birth-dates your Sun’s are exactly sextile each other. The sextile creates a lot of sexual chemistry, but by themselves, not enough substance for a really lasting relationship. Looking at his chart, he appears to be very sexual, and charismatic but with a hard streak in his personality – which is not easy for a Pisces. So it created a mild sense of rapport between you, but beyond that you lacked deeper values and substance to glue you together on a deep level. The hard, but empowering choice here is for you to let go of it completely – no matter how hard it is. You say yourself that he doesn’t love you – so let it go, there are lot’s of fish in the sea.
Guy #2 is far more generally compatible, as a Scorpio with his Sun trine your Sun. This is one of the best Sun-Sun combinations possible, so you made a good choice in that way. And from his chart, he certainly appears to be a much sweeter, family oriented guy. But at 13-15 years old, you were WAY too young to make any permanent decisions. This one was a good learning experience and he should have taught you that you never need to accept less – ever.
When I look at your chart, it appears to me that your problems don’t stem from either guy #1 or guy #2, but from your own inner conflicts. The squares in your chart indicate a tendency to self-sabotage and shoot yourself in the foot just when you get close to a dream or goal. This also has some roots in your early childhood or parental patterning. Ultimately, your choice to keep emotionally connected to Guy #1 certainly looks like self sabotage to me. This is a life pattern for you – and it will not change unless you do some inner work to resolve your inner conflict. There is some internal reason why you create drama in your love life and this drama keeps you from living your real destiny. The Question:Regarding this solar eclipse in Pisces. I have a Chiron at 28 degree in Pisces in my 5th house. I’d like to know what is the significance of this eclipse and the new moon at the same time. How will it effect my life?
The Answer: First of all, the Solar Eclipse can only take place on a New Moon, so all Solar Eclipse’s are also New Moons. The New Moon signals New Beginnings. Solar Eclipse effects are felt up to 3 months before to 3 months after the actual Eclipse. So, even though the eclipse just happened a few days ago (March 18) – you have likely been feeling it for months, and will continue to do so, probably through June.
A few guidelines for interpreting any Solar Eclipse on Natal planet in order of importance:
#1 What aspects other planets make to the Natal Planet (in your case – Chiron in your Natal Chart). This is MORE IMPORTANT, than signs, houses or anything else Astrologers talk about. Aspects are the #1 most important thing. If your planet (Chiron for you) has good aspects, the Solar Eclipse will bring in good things. If your planet (Chiron) has bad aspects, the Solar Eclipse will create stress and struggle.
#2 Look at the dominant themes of the Solar Eclipse in Question. You can refer to my article on this Pisces Solar Eclipse where I describe the revolutionary and disruptive Pluto overtones of this particular Eclipse. This means that the Eclipse will create disruption and upheaval in your life. It could be internal upheaval, or it could be external, but either way there is a personal revolution going on. If YOUR own Planet (Chiron) has good aspects then you will ultimately benefit from this change – the disruption will lead to deeper fulfillment and satisfaction in a relatively painless way. If YOUR own planet (Chiron) has hard aspects (aspects to Saturn, or Squares to any planet) then it will be a difficult period of time for you and your family.
#3 Check the meanings of sign and house placement to get a sense of what type of clothing your Solar Eclipse experiences will be dressed up in. In other words, sign and house placement will only color the experience – not decide if it is hard or easy.

If you have a question about Astrology, or an aspect between two charts, or some transit that you are currently experiencing? Then please post it as a comment below this blog entry. I will answer at least one question this week, and depending on how many questions I get I will try to get to them all.
This is not an Astrology Reading, but rather a chance to get your questions about Astrology answered and hopefully clear up some misconceptions.
Why am I answering Astrology Questions? Because from my experience of what is available for people to read about Astrology it is either too oversimplified and not really useful, or FAR TOO complicated – and therfore not helpful. My goal is to share information in a way that you can actually use it.
Why Am I qualified to answer these questions? Well, I started using Astrology when I was 9, and my step-mother taught me what she know, at that time I read every book she had on the subject, and by the time I was a teenager I was *hand calculating* all the charts of everyone in my family, and all of my friends.
*Hand Calculating a chart requires doing a lot of math, it is essentially Geometry and Trigonometry. Unfortunately in School they do not explain it that way, so even though I learned to do this in elementary school – once I got to High School I didn’t understand what they were talking about in Trigonometry class! Fortunately today, software does most of this thinking for us now!
Aside from having read all the cookbook Astrology books out there, I have am also familiar with the dozen or so schools of Astrology thinking there are, from Vedic to Uranian etc. I can tell what, in my experience has really worked for people. I am also familiar with tools of Astrology that 99% of the Astrologers in the world don’t even know; and this gives me a far greater accuracy rate.
An example of this is the chart of Tom Cruise. His chart doesn’t look particularly spectacular unless you look at the Heliocentric chart (from the Point of view of the Sun). I call this the Sun Chart and everybody has one. The Sun Chart represents your destiny, the regular chart – the kind you find for free all over the Internet – is your subjective experience of life. Tom Cruise has a perfect Star of David in his Sun Chart. This is THE most powerful planetary pattern that anyone can have. It is two Grand Trines (making 6 Trine Aspects) interlocked to make SIX perfect Sextiles. Trines and Sextiles are the most benevolent aspects anyone can have in a chart, and you are VERY lucky to find 3 or 4 in any chart. They give talents, blessings and easy success in life. Certainly Tom Cruise has had a ton of success. He owes it to his Sun Chart – it tells the story of his special destiny. I will do a full Story on Tom Cruise’s chart soon on this Blog and show you all what I am talking about.

We just experienced a complete Lunar Eclipse in (13′) Virgo on the 3rd/4th at Saros Series 123 and now we have a partial Solar Eclipse in Pisces (28′) coming on March 18 at Saros Series 149. Eclipse influences are felt for at least 4-6 months, 2-3 months before and 2-3 months after they actually happen. For this reason a persons entire year can often be influenced by direct Astrological ‘hits’ from the Eclipses. The only way to know if this applies to you (and how it effects you) is to have a professional Astrologer read your chart and focus on the Solar and Lunar Eclipse patters for the year.
This next Eclipse in Pisces is associated with eruptions of violence and explosive temper. Since this one comes with a near exact square of Sun to Pluto, we can expect this to be true of this eclipse. Previous Eclipses in this same series were associated with the Iran Contra hostage situation, the trial of Charles Manson and war criminal trials as well as race riots, revolution, and political change and unrest; particularly related to the overthrow of abuse, injustice and racism.
All of this follows closely on the heels of our hero Pluto being re-designated as a Planet after some Astronomers tried to demote him to a Planetoid. So Pluto himeself seems to be feeling the revolution. It would’t matter what they called Pluto though – he would still behave the same….A rose, is a rose, is a rose.
Personally each of us can expect to feel the results of this Solar Eclipse based on what planets in our own Chart are sitting at 26-0 degrees of any sign, and what personal ‘karma pictures’ are being lit up by the transit. Since the Pluto square is revolutionary and creates abrupt change, this is what some of us can expect in our own lives and personal experiences. That is IF the Solar Eclipse makes an aspect in your chart.
I just did a session for a long-term client of mine where I was looking at a work situation and probable new job offer for her. This all looked good, but before she’d get to that point, I was seeing her current situation look like a metaphorical battlefield where she’d need to be ducking shrapnel and flying bullets as the ax came down on the heads of her co-workers. I was also seeing the same thing in the new job environment. I’d call it a major house cleaning throughout her entire industry, which happens to be the TV and Film studio environment. Right now similar patterns are happening anywhere that issues of power are operating. We are going to see a similar ‘house cleaning’ take place in areas such as: Politics, jobs, business deals, finance and the military, etc. It won’t be pleasant – the Pluto Square never is, but it will get rid of the dead weight and clear the path for fresh growth and more constructive action.
On a personal note, my own experience this week was one where I was given the opportunity to try out a new martial arts class and in it I learned two techniques that could potentially save my life from a violent attack and allow me to break an attackers arm – even if they were much, much larger than me. This is useful to say the least, and something that probably every woman should learn. This is also a very useful application of the symbolism of this Pisces Solar Eclipse – AND it fits with the influences this Eclipse is making to my own Chart. I intend to take this class regularly and become physically confident in my powers to protect myself.
How will YOU make the most of this Pisces Solar Eclipse?
Some of you may remember the debate that happened last year when Astronomers decided to declassify Pluto from Planet status and make a rule that it and other small orbiting objects in our Solar system should be classified as “Planetoids” not planets. This came on the heels of the newest discovery in our Solar System; planet Sedna (See my Article Sedna the 6th Sign? for more about Sedna).
Most Astrologers, mysef included, were horrified that Pluto might become declassified as a Planet – since we know that He is defintely a powerful force to contend with and deserves the full Planet Title. But still Astronomers are only in the business of finding and naming things, not interpreting them. But this is a good day for all of us who appreciate Pluto; he is officially a Planet again. There were even some snide comments on the Internet about how Astrologers would have to throw all thier work out the window if Pluto was no longer a Planet. But I would point out that the opposite is true – Astronomers, and Scientists have to rethink their ideas of how our Solar System is constructed if there are still objects out there in OUR Solar System that they are newly discovering (like Senda – and who knows how many more)!
This is one Astrologer who openly states that there is still a lot that we don’t know about the planetary influences, and I for one am eager to learn what’s missing and fill in the empty gaps in the knowledge that Astrolgers, Astronomers and Scientists all share. I believe that when we stop learning, we start dying – and who wants that! Certainly this is a sentiment that Planet Pluto would approve of.
