As the month begins Saturn moves into Virgo, further emphasizing the Eclipse themes of the year. Venus; the goddess of the Law of Attraction changes directions again on the 9th which disrupts plans and financial flow everywhere. This IS a good time to pick up a bargain though. Also, planets in Virgo can be promiscuous, so sexually transmitted disease could well begin making headlines soon too. The trend for the next 3 years shifts away from “guru’s” and other figureheads and towards service, health and details. Our collective attention moves from “the One” towards “the Many.” One main theme this year has been the destruction of useless, decrepit and ineffective SYSTEMS. Now that we move away from the highlighting of the fixed signs towards mutable ones, we can expect a lot more negotiation and far less autocratic rulemaking. There will finally be some room for discussion, although heated circular debates are no better than arrogant imperialism!

Cancer - Your introverted self has had the covers pulled. There is nowhere to hide now, so I really hope that you have some plan about how to use this sudden exposure. All those flashing paparazzi bulbs can be blinding. Being seen is both useful and revealing. Are you ready? If you have some plan to be of service then this time will be extremely productive for you. All I can say, is be prepared.
Leo - You don’t like to stand in the shadows, but sometimes it just can’t be avoided. Maybe you can look at it like this - you my Solar Leo baby are full of high BTU wattage, and when that wattage is sometimes not wanted on center stage your job then becomes to shine the light on a new player. Since you are the brightest bulb around, you are indispensable, but you’d blind them all if you shined it right in their eyes.

Libra - Your Venus ruler changes direction and goes direct on the 9th, bringing back something that was going on at the End of August. An obsession with social drama or dynamics could prove endless, relentless and highlight odd or inappropriate desires. This whole cycle of Venus won’t end until mid Oct. and it serves to let go of and release any inappropriate values you have been holding onto.

The Retrograde of Venus - specifically tied to Saturn this time around - had a direct and devastating impact on the sub-prime mortgage industry. In fact, it was such a near-miss that most Americans have no idea how close our National economy came to a completely devastating upheaval. BUT - and this is a big but, our government bailed out the biggest sub-prime lender in the nation; Countrywide. Countrywide is bigger than Fanny Mae and Bernie Mac - maybe even bigger than the two of them combined. Countrywide is so big that if they fail they take our whole economy with them and cause international shockwaves. But things appear to be ok since the government gave many multi-millions of dollars to bail Countrywide out. Most Americans don’t even know this happened because the story never made it to the front page of the major news outlets. Many other small sub-prime mortgage companies quietly went out of business in the past two weeks - I mean dozens of them.

Every year there are 2 pairs of Eclpses, each pair is made up of a Solar and a Lunar Eclipse and they take place 6 months apart from each other. This year both Lunar Eclipse’s are TOTAL ECLIPSES. This makes them intensely emotional, and it also makes them create very unpredictable behavior among crowds, the public and groups of people.
This years Eclpses have been focused in Virgo and Pisces. Together these signs represent: service, healthcare, the food supply, pets, routines, employees, old folks, mysticism, spirituality, religion, compassion, health, healthcare and physical, mental and emotional well-being. This effects all of us - not just Pisces and Virgo people.
The Recent newstories about the Football player arrested for holding Dog Fights and the inhumane treatment/enslavement of the dogs is connected to this extremely emotional Pisces Lunar Eclipse. This eclipse highlights issues that will be increasing and continuing for the next 3 years since it is closely tied to the Movement of Saturn into Virgo a few days later. Hidden issues and information about the humane/inhumane treatment of those connected to hierarchy and situations that have strong ‘figureheads’ will continue to be revealed. Balance and fairness of the lifeforce is a main issue at stake now. There are many forms of enslavement, and these are now being revealed and brought to the surface for review, release and clearing. This includes bondage to work situations that are unjust and any other form of conditional treatment, repression, exploitation and abuse of others for the hierarchical benefit of those at the ‘top.’ I know this sounds a lot like all of our society - and in some ways it is. Heirarchy is contrary to spiritual law. Leadership is a different thing altogether. Forms of opression and control that are rigid and controlling and leave no room for individual movement and freedom of expression are ripe for upheaval - and this is just what we will get over the coming years. This current Eclipse simply serves to highlight the problem areas.
This Eclipse is tied to the current Retrograde Venus. Personally, we can expect information to continue to be revealed about unfair and abusive situations. Ultimately it is up to each one of us to take a stand for something different and better and to simply not allow abuses to continue. I am not advocating warfare, but rather resisting and resigning from that which is unjust. Without support abuses cannot continue, without aquiescence intimidation cannot exist. It is up to each of us to take a stand as to what we believe in and to spend our support accordingly. Probably the most power any of us has is in our wallets - spend on those who represent fairness and balance across all levels of society. It may be cheap to shop at Wal-Mart but it destroys whole communities. Please take extra care to spend your money in socially responsible ways. Together we have more power than any of us can possibly realize alone.
September 2nd ~ Saturn Moves OUT of Leo and INTO Virgo.
OOOh, Saturn look so beautiful with those magical rings. But everything is not as it appears. The current cycle is complex with layers of meaning and implications.
Never mind that these Saturn movements are deeply tied to the current Venus Retrograde: has anyone else heard the news stories about Nationwide - America’s largest Mortgage lender?? The Venus Retrograde Cycle Started on July 28th, and goes direct on Sept 9.
Never mind that there is a complete Lunar Eclipse merely a few days before (August 28th) in Pisces, the ‘Other Half’ to Virgo.
Never Mind that there is another Eclipse a few days later - this time a Solar Eclipse in the sign of Virgo herself. Each one of these points is extremely important all on it’s own. So I will be devoting a post to each one in the coming weeks. But never mind all of that for now.
Here’s a good overview of Saturn in Virgo: issues and problems of health come to the surface, this includes pyhysical health, mental health and emotional health, as well as the health of pets, co-workers and employees. It also refers to healthcare systems and beaurocracies. Peevey little beurocratic details are up for every single one of us to look at in the coming 3 year cycle. If you’ve ever gotten lost in a ‘customer service’ phone maze for some large corporation then you may have some idea of what I am referring to. The most brilliant personification of this idea struck me like a brick when I went to see ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.’
Imelda Staunton is ‘make you squirm in your seat’ brilliant as Deloroes Umbridge. And this character is just what Saturn in Virgo is all about. She even dresses in a way that illuminates this idea (Virgo rules tailoring). All syrupy and saccharine in deep pinks and bows this character has all the emotional sensitivity of the Marquis de Sade.
Let’s not forget that Saturn’s pretty rings are mostly used to cut through the ’stuff’ in our lives that needs to be examined more closely. With a 3 year treck through Virgo this includes ideas like manners, perfection of presentation (anorexia), and details gone mad. The tendency during this 3 year transit is for the world to value style over substance.
It is certainly not all bad, but we can definitely expect to see the burdens of women - those placed upon them, those they embrace, or those they place upon others - to be more prominently revealed.
Those who will do best during Saturn in Virgo are people with strong Taurus and Capricorn energy. Both of these signs emphasize real substance, practical values, a balanced head and hard work over details. For these people the details of Saturn in Virgo will just supply the needed ‘polish’ to make them stand out and sparkle.
Next up are those with strong Cancer and Scorpio energy (and by energy I mean any planet or angle, not just the Sun). Both of these watery friends should have enough resilience, compassion and persistence to wear away at the relentless perfectionism of Saturn in Virgo.
Then there are Virgo and Pisces people and those with Virgo and Pisces planets. Now is the time to make sure that everyone involved in a deal feels that they have gotten a ‘fair shake.’ Unfairness leads to rugs getting pulled.
And finally Gemini and Sagittarius planets will be the ones who have some of the biggest challenges of all. It depends of course on individual chart patterns, but the square of Saturn to Gemini or Sag planets brings up tough negotiation issues, conflicts of values and philosophies. Frenzies of words leave only the most verbally talented among us unscathed by knotted tongues, and razor wit - lash. Both the brilliance of words and their cruelty leaves marks too deep to be seen by the human eye. If there is one thought I can leave you with now it is this: DO NOT GOSSIP. Gossip is just about the lowest human vibration available, and the person it most harms is the gossiper. Maybe not right away, but eventually it always comes back. With Saturn in Virgo gossip can be deadly. Purge the poisons by looking within and removing any need to lower the standing of others by putting them down. We never become better when someone else suffers, ultimately we only hurt everyone. Kindness, kindness, kindness - please!
Yes the ultimate lesson of Saturn in Virgo is to teach us kindness and his razor sharp rings serve to cut through anything that is NOT KIND in order to purge and eliminate it. While Saturn in Virgo may not be easy, it ultimately teaches us the value of kindness.

Today she joins up with Saturn at 28′ Leo, both of them trining Pluto. This is one intense combo, and could leave many of us feeling the adrenaline of a ‘near miss’ collision. Here’s a little first- hand example for you: I am a Taurus which means that I am ruled by Venus and this current cycle has caused a lot of unexpected ’stuff’ to happen.
Right now, and for the last week my back has been out - specifically my neck which is the ‘Venus Center’. I have had 4 adjustments in a week. As Venus was changing directions, I personally followed her course much like a boomerang through the sky. On the 25th - just as she was slowing down - I got on a plane for England (unexpectedly). She Turned Retrograde on the 28th, and then on August 2nd - just as she was speeding up again - I returned to California.
I tell this story to illustrate how the movements of the planets can be used to support our goals and plans. The One-Two Saturn punch that is hitting today is no fun - but at least we are done with this leg of it by the middle of next week. Seriously folks, when an extra handful of peas serve as a decadent desert for those who walk the Paris runways - what’s next?
One other aspect of Venus is that she represents love and beauty. When a culture and a people lose the capacity to appreciate the things she represents: art, luxury, love, beauty, femininity, movable wealth, creativity - then that culture becomes the prisoner of Venus inverted - or in her negative manifestation. The negative manifestation of Venus is: hatred of women, pornography, oppression of the female form, venereal disease, loveless or compulsive sex, materialism, being demanding, destruction of creativity, obsession with money, lack of kindness. When Saturn crushes Venus down there’s no way to make it into a pretty story - it just isn’t. This aspect only has one good side; that is that women emerge with strength and power now - but not because things are rosy and happy. No, female power emerges out of the NEED for it to emerge.
The Full moon in Aquarius on the 29th asks us to release or change patterns, systems and outmoded ideas that govern the public and humanity at large. This Full moon comes equipped with a Total Lunar Eclipse - which is extremely emotional - on August 28 in Pisces 4′46 (Saros Series 128). At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I will once again state that these big themes are all about mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health (as I have been saying since last year). Last fall’s eclipse on the US Neptune brought us tainted spinach, the spring Eclipses brought us tainted pet food. This problem is only getting worse, and I recommend being extra, extra careful about what foods you consume. Unfortunately there is no failsafe, since I am pretty sure that our whole food supply is fairly well poisoned by now. My best suggestion is to intuitively check your foods and pray, bless and spiritually cleanse them before eating. Oh, yeah this Eclipse can also be connected to anorexia. This Pisces eclipse is also tied to hidden enemies, drug problems and addiction as well as psychic energy, vision the astral plane and mysticism.
