11 Is The Magic Number - Of Planets That Is

February 29th, 2008 by auracle · 1 Comment

Planetary cycles

How long ago did you graduate from grade school?

I’m not asking to be rude or anything, it’s just that a few things have changed since us, um, grownups, got out of grade school.

Just yesterday Johnnie Mnemonic reminded us of this fact, here’s an Excerpt from his recent blog post:

“Maryn Smith, a 10-year-old fourth-grader at Riverview Elementary School in Great Falls, Mont., knows that there are 11 planets in the solar system. In order of increasing distance from the sun, they are, of course, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Eris.

The trouble is, you and millions of Americans just like you don’t know any of this.”

But once you, I and millions of Americans learn the Mnemonic Maryn Smith created, we may have more hope of remembering it. That mnemonic is:

My Very Exciting Magic Carpet Just Sailed Under Nine Palace Elephants.

There is more going on in this Universe than we have time to contemplate, but now at least we can remember a little bit more of it.

What is a Solar Eclipse

February 25th, 2008 by auracle · No Comments

The Solar Eclipse Happens twice a year and each one has a different impact Astrologically. The Solar Eclipse may be partial or total depending on where you are on the planet. You can get a list of all the Eclipse’s and where they will be felt at NASA. The location also determines it’s strength on your Horoscope. According to Astrology the more complete the Eclipse the more powerful it is. If you are viewing a total eclipse then you are in the area where it is MOST potent. The influence of the Eclipse is felt for up to 3 months ahead and 3 months after it takes place, but most powerfully during the two weeks on either side of it.

During the Solar Eclipse it is the image of the Moon that covers that of the Sun.

The Solar Eclipse always has an impact on Leo people because the Sun rules Leo. The Solar Eclipse also impacts Cancer because the Moon rules Cancer. The actual aspects that each Eclipse makes to other planets is what determines it’s impact. For example a Solar Eclipse that connects with Mars will have some relationship with warfare, sports, competitions or bodybuilding (among other things). On the other hand, if the Eclipse is impacting Neptune it will influence the gasoline market, minerals, gold, the housing market and many other business areas. Connected to Mercury it will impact short trips, journeys, conversations, news, sales and the use of words. This is why every Eclipse is different.

Finally, to understand what the Eclipse is doing for you personally, you want to see which of YOUR planets are being impacted. You will experience the character of the Eclipse (which planets it connects to) felt in the area of your OWN planets that are effected. For example: if there is a Solar Eclipse connected to Mercury then the EVENT will relate to news, communication or messages (fax, phone, e-mail etc). If it connects to YOUR Mars, it could make you mad, cause you to feel sexual attraction, make you feel competitive or make you want to get in a fight. These are just a few ideas about how the Solar Eclipse might impact you.

Beating Depression, Alienation and Failure: Today’s Lunar Eclipse in Virgo.

February 20th, 2008 by auracle · 3 Comments

There is an Eclipse in Virgo today (Feb 20). It is a total Lunar Eclipse - completely blocking out the Sun for those of us living in the US. The Eclipse takes place at 2′ Virgo and will impact you directly if you have planets in your own chart at 28′-5′ of any sign, or if you were born on the cusp of your sign. To view a short video I create about the Lunar Eclipse and help you understand how it works:

Because this is a total Eclipse it is extremely emotional. It also impacts the seasonal degrees (0′ Cancer, 0′ Capricorn, 0′ Aries and 0′ Libra) which are the most primal degrees that we have here on planet Earth. This picture relates directly to our approach to survival on the planet and our ways of being either in alignment or the way we live today which is (mostly) out of alignment with mother Earth.

The influence of Virgo is very related to the routines we are in and how they impact our physical health. Accordingly (and disturbingly) yesterday there was a story on NPR about colonies of bats being wiped out by a strange new health problem. This is being compared to colony collapse syndrome which has decimated the US honeybee population. This is extremely upsettings since Honey is one of natures ways to boost the human immune system, and the health of the bee population directly effects the health of the human population. So far, science can’t even figure out what’s killing these bats - virus, poison, climate, etc. Any farmer will tell you that Bats really help in keeping down the pests to crops, so this could lead to really disastrous consequences.

To me this speaks to the issue of health problems that were previously secret coming into our awareness. Ultimately, it comes back to a core principle that I hold about sustainability and what it means to be and create a sustainable life that will bring us security, support, joy and health.

Most of our current systems are based on a pyramid system. This system is NOT sustainable and only the person(s) at the top reap the rewards of such a system. The people at the top also hold the power. Sustainable systems are based on a circular or hub style shape. They share power and work in a model that empowers each and every participant. This empowerment allows every one of its members to feel valued, supported and given what they need. Pyramid systems nearly always benefit a few select members at the expense of those at the bottom or base of the pyramid.

All get rich quick systems promote the idea that once you get involved you will get to the ‘top’ of the pyramid and reap the rewards. These systems work, but only for the person who is really at the top, and that person is the person selling to you NOT you!

What has this got to do with the Eclipse you may be asking yourself right now. Well, everything actually. This eclipse is bringing up feelings of disappointment, alienation, frustration and failure for many people, not to mention physical illness. These are emotional feelings. But most of us cannot quite put our finger on the source of the problems.

The reason for this message is to point out that the real source of the problem is the false foundations under which many of us are living - and laboring. These false foundations are those that are not sustainable, and they are mostly connected to our extensive efforts in the world that are usually supporting the lifestyle and dreams of other people, not ourselves.

The opportunity here is to look inward and decide how to create a different and TRULY SUSTAINABLE system in your own life. Here is an idea that I believe truly represents this sustainable system.

visit Humanity Unites Brilliance for more info. If you want to learn more then send an email to auracle*astrologychick.com.The Eclipse is bringing the problems of non-sustainable (pyramid) systems to the surface. The solution is to create a new system. The foundation for creating a new system is the willingness to take full responsibility for creating it in our own lives.

Not so Sacred Cow Astrology

February 17th, 2008 by auracle · No Comments

Sacred Cow, entertaining, humorous

Sometimes we need a good laugh at our favorite Sacred Cow.

Sacred Cow

This has absolutely nothing to do with Astrology, but the guys over at BoingBoing sure are hilarious. You can find lot’s of the best stuff on the net to entertain yourself with over there. They have posts on witches flying in the British countryside, a Bogus Beatles Bands contest, the Hamsters Lunch kit, The Worlds Smallest Bodybuilder, How to melt a Beer bottle in a Microwave, the ever popular Psycho shower curtain. And of course, in the hard to believe but true category: Nicaraguan town wealthy from cocaine bricks washing up on shore.

I’d sure love to get those guys birth dates.

Australia apologizes to the Natives

February 16th, 2008 by auracle · No Comments

I found this incredible story about the Australian Government apologizing to the Native Aboriginals for the treatment they’d been given. What’s great also about this post is that Australian astrolger Kingsley posts the charts.

Here is one of them:

Eclipse and Australia charts

The apology came on Feb 13 under a beautiful Kite pattern. The Eclipse happened a few days before on the 7th. With a Retrograde mercury crossing the Eclipse degree, after just having passed Neptune which made this a perfect time for old wounds to be examined, and put to rest.

Obama and the Void Moon

February 13th, 2008 by auracle · No Comments

Just based on the Void Moon in his candidacy announcement on Feb 10, 07 at 10am, it’s hard to imagine Obama winning. The Void Moon is indeed a formidable force. Have any of YOU tried to make anything stick that you did on a Void Moon? It’s nearly impossible for most people to do. (For clarification on this check my blog post: ) Basically what I am saying here is that the Void is working against Obama’s candidacy. HOWEVER, the Void still has an impact on the world. That impact is to DEEPEN THE DISCUSSION, make people reflect on what is important and do some inner emotional and spiritual housekeeping. Always a good thing in my book.

Right now, as all this presidential prediction discussion is flying around I see so many Astrologers forget to make note of the current RETROGRADE MERCURY and the current RETROGRADE SATURN. Both of which indicate upcoming changes in trend and overall direction. Mercury goes direct on Feb 19th - which means all of the current discussion will be revised (endlessly) until Early March. Saturn changes direction in May indicating a major change in our collective approach to authority figures, who we take seriously and why, as well as our understanding of the RULES OF ENGAGEMENT.

So many Astrologers also seem to forget that we have another Eclipse season before candidates are announced formally (and it is an *ss kicker too!) The next set of Eclipses take place in August. Get ready for a serious game of hardball. As I keep saying, it ‘aint over yet, and before it ends the plot (and drama) WILL THICKEN.

The Void of Course Moon - What’s it all about Alfie?

February 13th, 2008 by auracle · 5 Comments

The Void-of-course Moon rules go like this: When the Moon has made her last aspect in a sign before moving to the next sign she is in the state of Void-of-course, also known as the Void Moon. This essentially means that all her work is done in the outer world. It also means that actions taken or started during the Void Moon time wind up being ‘null and void’ - they don’t lead to anything.

BUT, the Void Moon IS good for a few things, especially for inner work, deep reflection, psychic development and bringing spiritual meaning to your life. It is probably the MOST powerful time for the Occult. And of course, my favorite observation about the void is that it is best used for HUMOR, some of my favorite side splitting moments, rolling on the ground laughing hysterically are because of the Moon Void. So, please enjoy it responsibly.

A member of my family is born under a Void Moon so it has been a lifelong study for me. I wondered if that meant the usual Void of Course rules would or would not apply.

We tested it one year by filing her taxes during a Void moon.

That was the year when she got audited. YIKES! Void Moon person, using Void moon = NOT VOID EXPERIENCE. We have since come to the conclusion that the VOID MOON time is especially powerful for her - but only because her OWN MOON IS VOID. it also means that normal timing doesn’t work for her - most of what she tries is ineffective in the outside world *except during the Void Moon, at that time she produces almost super-powered results.*

For most people the opposite is true. Nothing happens when normal people do things on the Void Moon.

The moral of the story? If you have a normal Moon in your chart then DON’T EVER DO ANYTHING IMPORTANT DURING THE VOID MOON! The exception is if your own Moon is Void. This is extremely rare - and therefore unlikely. The quick way to check is to see if your Moon is sitting at 28, 29 or 0 degrees of the sign. If so it *may* be void, and bears further investigation. If your Moon is at 25 degrees or earlier, chances are you do NOT have a Void Moon.

Chinese Astrology - A basic overview

February 11th, 2008 by auracle · No Comments

Like any ancient system, a full understanding of Chinese Astrology is extremely complicated, but here are a few basic rules. If you want to get into much greater detail here is a very thorough site on Chinese Astrology.

THE CHINESE ASTROLOGY YEARS

The Year of the Rat - 1900 1912 1924 1936 1948 1960 1972 1984 1996 2008
The Year of the Ox - 1901 1913 1925 1937 1949 1961 1973 1985 1997
The Year of the Tiger - 1902 1914 1926 1938 1950 1962 1974 1986 1998
The Year of the Cat - 1903 1915 1927 1939 1951 1963 1975 1987 1999
The Year of the Dragon - 1904 1916 1928 1940 1952 1964 1976 1988 2000
The Year of the Snake - 1905 1917 1929 1941 1953 1965 1977 1989 2001
The Year of the Horse -1906* 1918 1930 1942 1954 1966* 1978 1990 2002
The Year of the Goat - 1907 1919 1931 1943 1955 1967 1979 1991 2003
The Year of the Monkey - 1908 1920 1932 1944 1956 1968 1980 1992
The Year of the Rooster - 1909 1921 1933 1945 1957 1969 1981 1993 2005
The Year of the Dog - 1910 1922 1934 1946 1958 1970 1982 1994 2006
The Year of the Pig - 1911 1923 1935 1947** 1959 1971 1983 1995 2007**

THE CHINESE ELEMENTS

The five elements: Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth
These elements rotate in a 10 year cycle, when combined with the animal years we get a 60 year cycle. The rotation goes like this:
Yang Wood, Yin Wood,
Yang Fire, Yin Fire,
Yang Earth, Yin Earth,
Yang Metal, Yin Metal,
Yang Water and Yin Water

The elements either support or destroy one another when combined - and this has a great impact on compatibility with others and your luck during a given year. These are also the principles that Feng Shui is based upon.

2008 is the year of the Earth Rat - specifically it is a YIN (female) Earth Rat, also called the Brown Earth Rat. Last year - 2007 was also an Earth year, but it was YANG earth year, in the animal year of the Pig.

Because the Chinese New Year always begins on a New Moon many people make the mistake of believing it follows the Lunar (Moon cycle). This is not true. It would be far more appropriate to say that it follows the Jupiter Cycle - which lasts 12 years, just like the 12 animal years. The Chinese New year does not actually start until the next Chinese New Calendar begins - which takes place when the Tiger Month begins each year. In 2008 this actually happens on FEB 4th.

The FIVE Elements of Chinese Astrology either support or fight with each other. Elements support each other in the following order:

Metal supports Water nourishes Wood feeds Fire gives to Earth grows Metal

The Destructive relationships are:

  • Wood fights with Metal
  • Fire fights with Water
  • Soil fights with Wood
  • Metal fights with Fire
  • Water fights with Soil

Since this is an Earth year it is especially good for those born in a Metal year. It will be more challenging for those born in a Water or Wood year.

To find your own years of greatest Balance - and therefore greatest luck in Chinese Astrology go here.

*The year of the Fire Horse. Anyone one born in this year is considered to be so head strong and full of impulse that they are often dangerous and disruptive to the home. It was considered especially bad to be a girl born in this year and is called hinoeuma. In ancient China girl babies born in a Fire Horse year were often drowned, and were considered unmarriageable. In 1966 the abortion rate in China was so high that it was shocking because so many parents did not want to have Fire Horses in their homes. Many other parents simply waited until the following year to register the birth of their child to help the baby avoid the prejudice such Fire Horse children (especially girl children) would receive.

**The year of the Golden Pig. Considered in Chinese Astrology to be the luckiest of all years. The most auspicious time to start a business or other profit making venture. To me this is because of the alignment of Jupiter and Pluto which takes place once every 60 years, and therefore is always present during the year of the Golden Pig. This is a generally lucky influence - but it will ONLY be lucky for you personally if it is making good aspects for YOU.

Today is the chinese New Year - Happy Rat year

February 7th, 2008 by auracle · No Comments

The Chinese New Year Starts today. You’ve probably seen it all over the news, since every year there is a news story on it. I wrote a previous post on the Chinese Year of the Rat which you should check out for more information.

Rat years are better for some Chinese birth signs than others. Here is a quick guideline for who should do well during this year of the Rat, and further down you will find a quick calculator for finding your own Chinese birth Animal, with longer love match and year forecasts in it.

The Year of the Rat is best for those born in:

Rat - 1900 1912 1924 1936 1948 1960 1972 1984 1996 2008
Dragon - 1904 1916 1928 1940 1952 1964 1976 1988 2000
Ox - 1901 1913 1925 1937 1949 1961 1973 1985 1997

The Year of the Rat is good for:

Monkey - 1908 1920 1932 1944 1956 1968 1980 1992
Snake - 1905     1917    1929    1941    1953    1965    1977    1989    2001
Pig - 1911 1923 1935 1947** 1959 1971 1983 1995 2007**

It is a more challenging year for:

Cat - 1903 1915 1927 1939 1951 1963 1975 1987 1999
Rooster - 1909 1921 1933 1945 1957 1969 1981 1993 2005
Horse -1906* 1918 1930 1942 1954 1966* 1978 1990 2002

This is a year of major change which is often difficult for:

Tiger - 1902 1914 1926 1938 1950 1962 1974 1986 1998
Dog - 1910 1922 1934 1946 1958 1970 1982 1994 2006
Goat - 1907 1919 1931 1943 1955 1967 1979 1991 2003

*The year of the Fire Horse. Anyone one born in this year is considered to be so head strong and full of impulse that they are often dangerous and disruptive to the home. It was considered especially bad to be a girl born in this year and is called hinoeuma. In ancient China girl babies born in a Fire Horse year were often drowned, and were considered unmarriageable. THE Solar Eclipse and the SUPERBOWL

February 4th, 2008 by auracle · No Comments

Today was the Superbowl. Today was the biggest Superbowl upset in HISTORY.  This news story is all over the world, the forums are on fire with hot discussion about it, and doesn’t exactly surprise me to see it.

I am not a huge Football fan, but I usually watch the Superbowl. This one happened so close to the Solar Eclipse on the 7th that public upsets and surprises were almost to be expected. The Eclipse is in Aquarius - which effects masses of people, but to me that’s not enough to explain WHY FOOTBALL?!? And for that I gotta tag the Movement of Retrograde Mercury attached to the Eclipse itself.

This means news, strange news, and especially news about the leader (in this case the Patriots) disappearing from view. The Patriots were supposed to have this win all sewn up and in the bag. How could things go so wrong? Blame it on this strange twisted Mercury Retrograde + Solar Eclipse.

And that’s not all SUPER TUESDAY - when we all vote for our primary candidates - will also be effected by this Solar Eclipse. Oh yeah baby, the news has only just started to spin. Pretty soon all of our heads will be spinning too, just you wait.  A Solar Eclipse nearly always steals the thunder away from the ‘Golden Boy’ or favored winner. But throw Retrograde Mercury in the mix and we’ve got a recipe for some very spicy news, gossip, politics and fried computer wires.

How the Eclipse’s really work.

February 1st, 2008 by auracle · No Comments

This month we have two eclipses, starting with the one on the 7th - a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius.  The Lunar Eclipse in Virgo takes place later in the month on the 21st. To get a more scientific eclipse explanation check out NASA and get the whole technical skinny on it.

Since every eclipse involves the Sun & Moon they automatically impact Leo and Cancer people. But the real story is always told in the ASPECTS and not every eclipse will aspect every person - thank god! Otherwise our lives would be nonstop endless drama! That’s what direct Eclipse hits tend to do to us! So if you’d like to see what the current pair of Eclipse’s is doing for (or to) you have a report done, that will give you an overview of the 6 month trend - with all the specific aspects - you are experiencing.

Later this year we have two more Eclipses, a Total Solar Eclipse on August 1  in Leo and Lunar Eclipse August 16 in Aquarius. To really understand the Eclipse’s we need to pay attention to the Moon’s Nodes and Saros Series of the Eclipse pattern. The Nodes are also called the Head of the Dragon and the Tail of the Dragon and they represent the souls journey towards spiritual development (Head of the Dragon) or away from it and towards darkness. Collectively on the date of an Eclipse the Head and Tail of the dragon show us where we are all either collectively moving towards a dream or aspiration vs. how and where we are all collectively delving into our darker or shadowy nature.

You can see where every eclipse takes place here if you want to take a sightseeing trip!
