Summer Solstice June 21
The Summer Solstice is the day when the Earth is at it’s closest point to the Sun for the whole year. It is also the longest day of the year.
The Summer Solstice always happens at the 0′ of Cancer, and any person who is born on the cusp of any sign has a direct relationship with all 4 season changes. Each change of season happens at the 0′ of a Cardinal sign. Cardinal signs are about leadership and new beginnings/endings. Endings and new beginnings are always deeply connected since we cannot have one without the other.
The Season changes are: The Spring Equinox at 0′ Aries which signals the Solar New year every year. Day and night are equal length on this day (and you can balance an egg – see my video about this).
The Summer Solstice at 0′ Cancer which is the longest day of the year.
The Fall Equinox at 0′ Libra which signals the time of harvest. Day and night are equal length on this day as well – and you can balance an egg again!
The Winter Solstice at 0′ Capricorn which is the shortest day of the year – the Earth is farthest away from the Sun.
The Summer Solstice is a degree that signals passion, heat intesity, emotion, family, home and the unconscious programming that runs us. It is the Degree most closely associated with the Divine Feminine and this year it is highlighted for the rest of the year in VERY dramatic ways. Anyone born on the cusp of any sign is likely to feel major transitions, changes and shifts happen in their lives well into 2008.
Probably the best way to celebrate the Summer Solstice is to clear out the old and welcome the new, dance with passion and generally celebrate being alive! Happy Summer Solstice to you all.
