11 Is The Magic Number – Of Planets That Is

Planetary cycles

How long ago did you graduate from grade school?

I’m not asking to be rude or anything, it’s just that a few things have changed since us, um, grownups, got out of grade school.

Just yesterday Johnnie Mnemonic reminded us of this fact, here’s an Excerpt from his recent blog post:

“Maryn Smith, a 10-year-old fourth-grader at Riverview Elementary School in Great Falls, Mont., knows that there are 11 planets in the solar system. In order of increasing distance from the sun, they are, of course, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Eris.

The trouble is, you and millions of Americans just like you don’t know any of this.”

But once you, I and millions of Americans learn the Mnemonic Maryn Smith created, we may have more hope of remembering it. That mnemonic is:

My Very Exciting Magic Carpet Just Sailed Under Nine Palace Elephants.

There is more going on in this Universe than we have time to contemplate, but now at least we can remember a little bit more of it.

Chinese Astrology – A basic overview

Like any ancient system, a full understanding of Chinese Astrology is extremely complicated, but here are a few basic rules. If you want to get into much greater detail here is a very thorough site on Chinese Astrology.

THE CHINESE ELEMENTS

The five elements: Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth
These elements rotate in a 10 year cycle, when combined with the animal years we get a 60 year cycle. The rotation goes like this:
Yang Wood, Yin Wood,
Yang Fire, Yin Fire,
Yang Earth, Yin Earth,
Yang Metal, Yin Metal,
Yang Water and Yin Water

The elements either support or destroy one another when combined – and this has a great impact on compatibility with others and your luck during a given year. These are also the principles that Feng Shui is based upon.

2008 is the year of the Earth Rat – specifically it is a YIN (female) Earth Rat, also called the Brown Earth Rat. Last year – 2007 was also an Earth year, but it was YANG earth year, in the animal year of the Pig.

Because the Chinese New Year always begins on a New Moon many people make the mistake of believing it follows the Lunar (Moon cycle). This is not true. It would be far more appropriate to say that it follows the Jupiter Cycle – which lasts 12 years, just like the 12 animal years. The Chinese New year does not actually start until the next Chinese New Calendar begins – which takes place when the Tiger Month begins each year. In 2008 this actually happens on FEB 4th.

The FIVE Elements of Chinese Astrology either support or fight with each other. Elements support each other in the following order:

Metal supports Water nourishes Wood feeds Fire gives to Earth grows Metal

The Destructive relationships are:

  • Wood fights with Metal
  • Fire fights with Water
  • Soil fights with Wood
  • Metal fights with Fire
  • Water fights with Soil

Since this is an Earth year it is especially good for those born in a Metal year. It will be more challenging for those born in a Water or Wood year.

*The year of the Fire Horse. Anyone one born in this year is considered to be so head strong and full of impulse that they are often dangerous and disruptive to the home. It was considered especially bad to be a girl born in this year and is called hinoeuma. In ancient China girl babies born in a Fire Horse year were often drowned, and were considered unmarriageable. In 1966 the abortion rate in China was so high that it was shocking because so many parents did not want to have Fire Horses in their homes. Many other parents simply waited until the following year to register the birth of their child to help the baby avoid the prejudice such Fire Horse children (especially girl children) would receive.

**The year of the Golden Pig. Considered in Chinese Astrology to be the luckiest of all years. The most auspicious time to start a business or other profit making venture. To me this is because of the alignment of Jupiter and Pluto which takes place once every 60 years, and therefore is always present during the year of the Golden Pig. This is a generally lucky influence – but it will ONLY be lucky for you personally if it is making good aspects for YOU.

Today is the chinese New Year – Happy Rat year

The Chinese New Year Starts today. You’ve probably seen it all over the news, since every year there is a news story on it. I wrote a previous post on the Chinese Year of the Rat which you should check out for more information.

Rat years are better for some Chinese birth signs than others. Here is a quick guideline for who should do well during this year of the Rat, and further down you will find a quick calculator for finding your own Chinese birth Animal, with longer love match and year forecasts in it.

The Year of the Rat is best for those born in:

Rat – 1900 1912 1924 1936 1948 1960 1972 1984 1996 2008
Dragon – 1904 1916 1928 1940 1952 1964 1976 1988 2000
Ox – 1901 1913 1925 1937 1949 1961 1973 1985 1997

The Year of the Rat is good for:

Monkey – 1908 1920 1932 1944 1956 1968 1980 1992
Snake – 1905     1917    1929    1941    1953    1965    1977    1989    2001
Pig – 1911 1923 1935 1947** 1959 1971 1983 1995 2007**

It is a more challenging year for:

Cat – 1903 1915 1927 1939 1951 1963 1975 1987 1999
Rooster – 1909 1921 1933 1945 1957 1969 1981 1993 2005
Horse -1906* 1918 1930 1942 1954 1966* 1978 1990 2002

This is a year of major change which is often difficult for:

Tiger – 1902 1914 1926 1938 1950 1962 1974 1986 1998
Dog – 1910 1922 1934 1946 1958 1970 1982 1994 2006
Goat – 1907 1919 1931 1943 1955 1967 1979 1991 2003

*The year of the Fire Horse. Anyone one born in this year is considered to be so head strong and full of impulse that they are often dangerous and disruptive to the home. THE Solar Eclipse and the SUPERBOWL

Today was the Superbowl. Today was the biggest Superbowl upset in HISTORY.  This news story is all over the world, the forums are on fire with hot discussion about it, and doesn’t exactly surprise me to see it.

I am not a huge Football fan, but I usually watch the Superbowl. This one happened so close to the Solar Eclipse on the 7th that public upsets and surprises were almost to be expected. The Eclipse is in Aquarius – which effects masses of people, but to me that’s not enough to explain WHY FOOTBALL?!? And for that I gotta tag the Movement of Retrograde Mercury attached to the Eclipse itself.

This means news, strange news, and especially news about the leader (in this case the Patriots) disappearing from view. The Patriots were supposed to have this win all sewn up and in the bag. How could things go so wrong? Blame it on this strange twisted Mercury Retrograde + Solar Eclipse.

And that’s not all SUPER TUESDAY – when we all vote for our primary candidates – will also be effected by this Solar Eclipse. Oh yeah baby, the news has only just started to spin. Pretty soon all of our heads will be spinning too, just you wait.  A Solar Eclipse nearly always steals the thunder away from the ‘Golden Boy’ or favored winner. But throw Retrograde Mercury in the mix and we’ve got a recipe for some very spicy news, gossip, politics and fried computer wires.

How the Eclipse’s really work.

This month we have two eclipses, starting with the one on the 7th – a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius.  The Lunar Eclipse in Virgo takes place later in the month on the 21st. To get a more scientific eclipse explanation check out NASA and get the whole technical skinny on it.

Since every eclipse involves the Sun & Moon they automatically impact Leo and Cancer people. But the real story is always told in the ASPECTS and not every eclipse will aspect every person – thank god! Otherwise our lives would be nonstop endless drama! That’s what direct Eclipse hits tend to do to us! So if you’d like to see what the current pair of Eclipse’s is doing for (or to) you have a report done, that will give you an overview of the 6 month trend – with all the specific aspects – you are experiencing.

Later this year we have two more Eclipses, a Total Solar Eclipse on August 1  in Leo and Lunar Eclipse August 16 in Aquarius. To really understand the Eclipse’s we need to pay attention to the Moon’s Nodes and Saros Series of the Eclipse pattern. The Nodes are also called the Head of the Dragon and the Tail of the Dragon and they represent the souls journey towards spiritual development (Head of the Dragon) or away from it and towards darkness. Collectively on the date of an Eclipse the Head and Tail of the dragon show us where we are all either collectively moving towards a dream or aspiration vs. how and where we are all collectively delving into our darker or shadowy nature.

You can see where every eclipse takes place here if you want to take a sightseeing trip!

Pollsters so unreliable Newspapers look to Astrology

With the pollsters all over the place – and very unreliable these days, the Huffington Post launched a new segment called HuffPollstrology which is certainly entertaining. But it’s not enough to predict the winners, for that you need a real Astrological look, like the one I give in my 2008 Presidential Prediction post. Check it out, and then remember that there’s a looooong way between here and November.

I fully expect both sets of Eclipses to create drama and upset in the pollsters predictions.  Those Eclipses take place in February (7th & 21st) just in time to have an impact on the Feb 5th Super Tuesday (some news outlets are calling it SuperDuper Tuesday) – where 24 states hold elections. And then in August (1st & 16th) – just in time for the political Conventions to be really Unconventional.

The February 7 Solar Eclipse takes place conjunct Neptune and Retrograde Mercury (Mercury Retrograde) – virtually guaranteeing some upsets and confusion.  The Feb 21 Lunar Eclipse gives us the Moon conjunct Saturn both opposed to the Sun – all of which paints the picture of gender opposition.  The August 1 Solar Eclipse once again conjuncts Mercury which literally has the impact of throwing someone’s plans out the window. The August 16 Lunar Eclipse gives us the Moon conjunct Neptune and Chiron opposing the Sun, suggesting a deep chasm among what American’s feel are their real ‘family values’ and how they are expressed in the political landscape.  Fasten your seatbelts, we’re about to go where no man has gone before.

Be careful with Gypsy Psychics

Recently a couple of news stories have hit the News about a Gypsy Psychic feud in California. Apparently all those neon signs for Psychic’s that we see in every neighborhood from San Diego to San Francisco are actually controlled and operated by feuding Gypsy families. Judging from the Yahoo story these families operate in a way that would make Tony from ‘The Soprano’s’ proud.

This brings me to an important point: be sure you know who you’re dealing with when getting psychic readings. Make sure you find someone with a good public standing who is well known – by their own name – in their community. Here is a list of guidlines that I have posted elsewhere that I am reposting for your benefit:

The question people most often aske me (besides ‘what do you see?’) is How do I choose a good Psychic? And this is a very good question. It is such a good question that I will answer it here for you – so that you don’t ever have to deal with the many, many, um, not so good psychics out there.

#1 Be aware that there are different levels of psychic information out there. Knowing what you are looking for is the first step towards getting it. Some people – and many psychic’s – see life as something that just happens to them, they think it is all fated or destined and that there is nothing that can be done about any of it. This is a perspective that I strongly disagree with. IF this isn’t what you want, then beware of words like, ‘fate’ or ‘destined’, or broad general statements like ‘soul mates reunited’. This is the lowest level of psychic awareness, and frankly anyone reading this has the same level of talent that these people do. What these people are reading is the Lower Astral plane, and it’s only as potent as the thoughts you’ve had this week. What they are really reading is your current mood or environment. Often this is impressive, because if your mood (or thinking) doesn’t change then you will manifest the things that they see. So, yes, you might meet someone named Karen, or your Dog could get out and not come back for a week. But my question to you is: What good is this information if you can’t use it to create your life – the life you really want!?

#2 Salty water syndrome – avoid drinking salty water, it will never quench your thirst. The dependence that some people form on the above type of psychic is what I call “Salty Water Syndrome.” Why keep going to someone who can’t give you tools for deeper awareness and self-development? Often we are excited when a psychic describes a new love interest coming into our life, especially if they sound attractive and fun, but what good does it do you to repeat the same unhealthy love pattern that has made you unhappy a dozen times before? It takes a much higher level of psychic development and awareness to see the soul-patterns that you are creating and help you to see them too – and then break through them to get the life that you really want. If you are committed to your own personal development then you shouldn’t ever be willing to settle for anything less than a psychic/reader/clairvoyant who is equally committed to seeing you create the life you want, the relationship of your dreams, and a fulfilling and successful career.

#3 Coaching – A highly skilled and developed clairvoyant or psychic can go beyond simple predictions and actually coach you through situations to a happy conclusion. Often this takes the form of helping you see things about yourself that you may not yet be aware of – and which are preventing you from getting what you want. A really good clairvoyant has equally good coaching skills and is also able to use many tools to assist you in getting what you want and moving forward in your life.

#4 Community – When looking for a reading, it is a good idea to ask yourself, ‘What community ties does this Psychic have?’ If they have an ad in the paper, that’s not necessarily bad – what type of paper is it? Is it devoted to personal development, or on the back page of the local weekly which his heavily sprinkled with ‘massage’ ads? This will tell you what type of person you are dealing with. Don’t, I repeat, Don’t go to anyone who advertises alongside pornography! Personally, I would also avoid those who have a neon sign over the door – I have only ever found lower level psychic’s working in that environment. If they are visible in the community in a positive way, then they are probably truly gifted and able to bring you insight and real guidance.

#5 Recommendations – Word of mouth is usually how most people find a psychic or clairvoyant. And this is usually pretty good, but my only suggestion here is that you consider the source – if the person making the recommendation is obsessive or not working on themselves, then they probably aren’t going to see a very highly developed psychic (Read #1), and you shouldn’t follow them down that path. If your friend is committed to personal development, spends time working on themselves and seems to be improving their lives and themselves – then by all means, chase down the person they are working with and do whatever it takes to get yourself an appointment!

#6 Results – When someone is seeing a really good clairvoyant or psychic they will get results in their lives. Things begin to change for the better and problems, fears or limitations that they had in the past begin to evaporate. This is what you want in a clairvoyant/psychic counselor. But it is only available for people who take responsibilty for themselves and are willing to work on things and make themselves better. Sure, there may be some action involved – but the results are worth it! Hey, you don’t get fantastic abs if you don’t work out!

#7 Discernment – Not every situation is a perfect match. There are many people that I will not take as clients, because they aren’t willing to be the cause of their own destiny. We all need to know what level we are on, and if a psychic won’t tell you what they are good at or what their type of expertise is – then you can’t really make an informed decision, and you shouldn’t get involved. My own expertise is in the area of planning and assisting people to find the best use of their talents. I happen to be extremely good at removing blockages and obstacles and there really isn’t anything that can scare me. I have the gift of truth and clarity – I see situations for what they really are at the core level, this makes me very good at helping other’s find their divine path and to uncover their greatest talents and gifts.

#8 ON THE WEB - be sure that the site you’ve found offers real contact information!  Most of these sites only offer pay-per-minute chat lines.  In my opinion this is the hallmark of a business that isn’t governed by moral principles – only the desire for money.  Nobody should be able to call up and waste a readers time trying to get something for nothing, but if you can’t reach a real person to discuss your needs – move on!  Also, on websites and blogs, if they don’t take comments – move on!  That is a sure sign that you are looking at an automated system which won’t offer any real assistance.

If you would like to learn more about me please visit my website AskAura.com I have set this site up specifically to offer an introductory special for new clients who would like to start working with me, and it is ONLY available here … My schedule is busy, and I only have a limited number of these discounted readings available per month, so you may have to wait to get this rate. It all depends on who else got there before you. Otherwise I am usually available within a few days at my regular rate. Click Here to learn about Psychic Readings with Aura.

**Important Note** I will most likely have to stop taking on New clients during the next several months, due to my intensive writing, speaking and teaching schedule. So, if you are interested in a reading with me – don’t wait.

No matter what, I wish you all the best along your path, and may all your psychic insights be of great value to you!

Is Astrology linked to Palmistry?

Astrology is definitely linked to palmistry, where parts of the hand are considered to mirror the panetary energies. There is more detail in this Newspaper story.

It is also very true that the same people who are interested in one branch of esoteric study will be interested in others. My own studies have included palm reading, face reading, hypnotherapy and many others. How about you?

Corporate Astrology

Astrology is gaining a large following in the corporate world. This recent article in the Times discusses the Corporate Astrology Trend.

Many, many smart and very successful people get quality Astrological advice. The quote from famous industrialist and billionaire JP Morgan says it best; “Millionaires don’t use Astrologers, billionaires do.” The problem of course, is that most people confuse the woefully inadequate information they can get online or from a simple Horoscope as being enough to make some kind of decision – it’s not. Horoscopes can give you a flavor of what is coming up – but accuracy comes from quality – specific – readings. And only those who really know how to USE Astrology can give you this information. Unfortunately these people are rare.

Even though so many smart and successful people use corporate Astrology, they usually keep it very hush-hush. A client of mine works in the financial world as a partner in a top investment firm. He recently told me about a conversation he had with a colleague who made the point that ‘We all use Astrologers, but we can’t let anyone know it, it would ruin our reputations!’

Hmm, seems like this is one of the best kept secrets of real success. Corporate Astrology is actually Electional Astrology and focuses on picking the best timing for:

*investments or
*incorporation, as well as testing the
*compatibility for success of business partnerships
*good timing for hiring employees

The aspects that the Stars give can not guarantee success, but they can make sure that we get a very good tailwind behind us and catch the ‘big waves’ when they come along. And THIS really helps us create success, love and happiness in all areas of our lives. Corporate Astrology is just a matter of using Good Astrological advice for business success.

Supreme Court sides with Astrology over Medical practice

In a recent news story Astrology was called a science by the Supreme Court.  This was related to a case between a famous Indian Astrologer and a medical Doctor.  Astrology was given the upper hand, due to the accuracy of the predictions involved.  As I always say, it’s not the tool that matters, in this case is Astrology.  It is the skill with which that tool is used.

Astrology and Religion – can’t we all just get along?

Apparently we CAN all get along, at least in a Seattle parish offering an Astrology course. The course is appropriately called, “They Followed a Star: Astrology and Christianity as Allies on the Journey”

In direct conflict to this we have the National Catholic Register telling people not to “Hope in Astrology.”  According to the Register, when Jesus was born he re-arranged the orbits of the stars in the sky, ending Astrology right then and there.  Funny though, I can’t remember that from either my school lessons OR from the Bible.  And when I look in the sky all stars seem to be in the right place.  Apparently the religious powers that be can’t agree on anything.  Isn’t that why wars get started?

But this TRULY EXCELLENT story about the Wise Men Astrologers, the Magi explains the deep soul-level connection between Astrology and all the major religions and why the war of terror is really a long and horrible misrepresentation of the teachings of Christ, Mohamed, Judaism and Astrology.

Science gets behind the Stars

This news story just ran suggesting that the seasons actually DO effect personality – and has been proven by Science.

Related Astrology Blogs have picked up the story.
And the debate about Astrology and Science rages on.
My take is that Science itself isn’t really very scientific. Quantum physics itself has proven that the very act of observing an Experiment influences the outcome of the experiment.  It us just a truth of human nature that we try to prove what we already believe. I believe in understanding human nature, this what Astrology helps us do.

What do you think?

To like Astrology or read your Horoscope is not the same as USING it…

We USE Astrology to find a good love match,  or to open a business on a day that will bring us maximum success.  We use astrology to avoid challenging times like this month’s Mars opposition to Jupiter conjunct Pluto: which is a win at all costs type of competition that will wreck the prize in it’s desperate need to WIN.  We use Astrology to avoid falling in love with that person who will rip your heart out and leave it stranded, in pieces on the floor, in agonizing heartbreak.

But most of all we use Astrology for personal development (which has nothing to do with brain smarts by the way).  Astrology is a tool, and like a hammer it is only as good as the person using it.  A hammer in the hands of a skilled carpenter will build you a beautiful set of kitchen cabinets, but an 8 year old might break your favorite lamp.  Most people know just enough to be dangerous.

Britain believes America loves the Devil

Here is a story that the British papers ran: Devil More Popular than Darwin

The thing that most American’s probably won’t get right away from the Headline is the subtext of this headline.  The headline may sound kind of straight forward to us, but it isn’t, not to a British person anyway.  I grew up in London, and half my family is British, so let me translate this: the very fact that this IS a headline says that it is shocking that Americans put more stock into religious beliefs than we do into scientific ones. This is NOT an attitude that British people share with Americans.

England (a Virgo) tends to value it’s smarts over it’s heart, while in America (a Cancer) the opposite is true.  British people read this and shake their heads.  American’s look at the English as snobs – but smart.  I hate to burst anyone’s bubble but there are a lot of smart American’s and tons of dumb ignorant English people!
