Today the Full Moon is in Taurus at 21′. This represents some sort of ending for a feeling of ownership, possessiveness or the release or sale of artwork, money or other possession. To see the whole Year’s Moon Phases go to this page.
The two weeks following a Full Moon are a time for us to release and let go of something connected to the sign of the Full Moon - in this case Taurus. This can mean anything that is governed by Taurus. Here is a partial list of Taurus ruled subjects:
Singing
The voice
Values
Art
Money & Banking
Connection to Earth
Sensuality
Ownership & Deeds
Beauty
Luxury
Vanity
Possessiveness
Stubbornness
Self-Indulgence

Additionally, the chart house where you are experiencing the Full Moon will impact what area of life you are being asked to let go of something.
For Example: The Full Moon in Taurus in your 5th house of lover’s, children and creative projects might ask you to release possessiveness of your children or creative projects, or ask you to let go of an issue related to valuing people or yourself based only on money, or it could show you where you have been self-indulgent or stubborn around a creative project. The Full Moon in Taurus in the third house might suggest you are too possessive of your phone/e-mail/fax machine or other type of communication. Or it could suggest that there would be mail that puts an ending to something you value or ownership of something like a piece of art. The Taurus Full Moon in the 3rd house could also suggest an ownership dispute in connection to a sibling or neighbor that you will need to deal with somehow.
These are just a few examples of what the Taurus Full Moon could mean in different chart houses. Below are the houses and their meanings:
1st house: Self expression, how others see you

What can I most help you with regarding Astrology?
I am working on creating a product that can help you to understand Astrology better, but in order to do that, I need to know what you MOST want to know about Astrology - so I need you to vote!
Here are the choices I’ve come up with so far:
#1 A video tutorial on how to read a chart
#2 A video tutorial on how to see planetary geometry
#3 A video on what aspects create compatabilty between two charts
#4 Something else altogether - please tell me what that is.
Please vote in the comments below. Vote for one of the options above by first listing the number (1-4) and on a seperate line you can add comments, if you vote for #4 then please be sure to share your ideas on what that should be.
If I get enough votes, I will make the product. So please vote, and encourage your friends to vote. Based on the answers you post, I will give away a Free Astrology Report (a $50 value) to the one I like the best. (This is completely up to me - so please give me good comments!) First I’d just like to thank everyone for the great questions and remind other Astrologers that their comments are welcomed here. I will get to some of the other questions posted when my schedule eases up a bit later in the week. When posting a Question please remember to ask something about Astrology so that others can also learn - this is not the place to look for a free reading. The Question: I was drawing up synastry charts over the weekend for myself and people I know. I found that I have effectively a Star of David (one point was 9′ from perfect) between my chart and my friends chart. (not to mention 6 other oppositions!)I know the Star of David is rare - what is its general meaning in synastry? ThanksThe Answer: Yes, a Star of David is Extremely rare.
But first lets define the Star of David. It is two interlocking Grand Trines, placed so that there are 6 sextiles formed by the two Grand Trines. For this reason the Star of David is also sometimes called a Grand Sextile. Within this pattern you will also see two crossed Mystic Rectanges. Any part of this pattern by itself is very powerful: A Grand Trine, a Kite, a Mystic Rectangle, a Half of a Grand Sextile (which is fomed by an opposition with two Sextiles on one side of it, all of which falls within one half of the chart wheel).
In order for any of this to apply the orbs must be within 3 degrees (sorry - 9 is just too far away). The meaning of the Pattern depends entirely on the planets involved. Different Geometry means diferent things. Just a few possibilites are: Grand Trine, Kite, Yod, Finger of Fate, Mystic Rectangle, Grand Square, T-Square - but there are others.
The Star of David is so rare in fact that it is almost never found in the charts of Individual people at all. Howard Huges had an almost Star of David in is Sun Chart (his destiny Chart). Tom Cruise is the rare individual who actually has a Star of David in his Destiny (Sun) Chart. Because it is in his Sun Chart you can’t see it on the usual Astrology Maps. I will post it on a protected page here on my Blog so that you can see it, along with a full listing of powerful planetary alignments - with pictures. If you are a Subscriber to my Weekly Horoscope I will be discussing this in the Next Newsletter, and you will get the link in the Newsletter. But this is only available to my Subscribers.
As for your links with your friends - first make sure that you don’t use orbs that are too large. If you make your Charts at Astro.com (where you can have a free account), I recommend setting the orbs to 50% - that will give you a better idea of what you are really looking at. In some special cases I will stretch it out to 4′ - but NEVER more than that. Then look at the patterns that are there and understand that any geometrical alignment (and I’ve only listed a few here) is more powerful than nearly anything else you can have. Geometry formed with another person shows great synergy, power, combined efforts, the abilty to grow together, assist one another and generally achieve success together. However - and this is big - the way this can happen is entirely dependent on the planets involved and their relationships with each other. Unfortunately, as good as technology is, it can’t fully recognize patterns yet - so this type of geometry can only be seen accurately with human eyes.
Good for you for picking it out. Now, your ability to see what’s really going on in a chart (or chart synastry) will improve and so will your accuracy if you shrink your orbs down to 3′. I suspect that there will still be some very strong synastry with you and your friend, but now you will see what is most important in that Synastry. This will help you understand your relationships better. No matter what, you two are clearly part of the same soul family. And that is something to celebrate! The details of that relationship, and it’s connections hold the keys to understanding your soul’s purposes for knowing one another - and how you will assist one another towards your deepest life’s missions.
The Question: Hi. Just wondering about something I heard this past week. I was told that Saturn was turned somehow to make it dark for the past couple of weeks. All I really know is that myself and about 10 of my friends have had the worst last 10 days. As in, the worst things that have ever happened to us have happened just recently, all independantly of eacho other. I am all about taking personal responsibility, but I also know that nature gives us patterns for a reason. I would like to know what Saturn was doing through the middle of April so that I might take more care if it ever comes around again. Thanks.
The Answer: First of all, thanks for your question and I invite comments from other Astrologers always! I found a few resources about this online. But first of all, Saturn changed directions in April. It stationed and turned Direct on April 20th - so most likely what you are referring to is the impact that this had on all of your charts.
Since you are talking about a group of friends who are probably close in age, I expect that all of you either share a generational Signature in your chart - such as Pluto, Uranus or another slow moving body OR you have other cross linking aspects with each other. Generation Y has Pluto in Scorpio (which would have been very hard hit by Saturn) - but most of them are still children. It sounds like all of your friends were transited at the same time by Saturn. Since Saturn made it’s Station Direct on the 20th - the days before and after would have had the greatest influence; that would be from the 15th-25th. Then, for you and your friends who had planets or sensitive points at 15′-21′ degrees of Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, Aquarius, Pisces or Capricorn this would have been a very challenging time period. I happen to have 2 Taurus planets and 1 in Scorpio that were hit by Saturn then, and I wound up with an allergy attack that’s kept me sick for 3 weeks! And I never get sick. Sometimes different Astrologers use different language to describe the same thing, and you may have read something about Saturn entering or exiting it’s Shadow - which is another element of what I am talking about here. This may be what you are referring to as ‘dark.’ As you can see from the links below, Saturn is actually quite bright. But if you really want to know what was happening then get an Astrology Report for that time.
As for it coming around again, the planets are always on the move, so something is always happening - but you’re not likely to get that same transit (influence) again for a long time. But you’re right that understanding it can help you be prepared if it comes around again.
Here are a few astronomical links: This link talks about how bright Saturn has been: http://skytonight.com/observing/ataglance
The Question: Hi Aura
Thanks for the really interesting blog!
Pluto transits often cause blight to the old ways but if one can work with them, they can accelerate one’s evolution, I think. A few months ago Pluto moved into my 2nd house, currently conjuct natal mercury and, while there’s not much good news from other transits, Pluto is trining my 6th house moon and Rx Jupiter will trine my natal Pluto in June. What would be most useful to hear is when these scary Pluto transits occur, do you look to the “easy” aspects to concentrate your attention and come out the other side winning, or perhaps to the ruler of the house being transited? Or am I on the wrong track here?
My natal details: 02 Jan 1947,02.10am, Durban, South Africa (29S55′E 0.30E56′)
The Answer: Well, yes you are right that Pluto transits can be intense. But please remember the #1 thing to look at when interpreting any planet is what angles (aspects) it is making. Squares are hard, trines are blessings and conjunctions can go either way - but usually the balance is positive.
PLUTO gets a worse rap than he deserves. Because nearly all Astrology (including Vedic, Uranian and anything else you can think of) overlooks the Declinations (planetary elevation) and the Helio Centric (Sun) Charts you are only really looking at maybe 25% of the picture that is going on with standard Astrology. Usually when someone is having a hard time in their life, and blaming it on some wide angle to Pluto it is not Pluto at all, but maybe a tough square, opposition, parallel or contra-parallel from Saturn or other planet (maybe even Pluto) on one of these unseen levels. All I’m trying to point out here is that you can’t judge a situation when you don’t look at the whole picture.
Houses are only the general coloring that the experience will take - like the Cherry on top of the Sunday, it’s not to be mistaken for the Sunday itself! Most important when looking at houses are the angles (Ascendant, Descendant, MidHeaven and Nadir) - anything on the angles will be prominent, intense and completely life transforming. The Angles are the personal equivalent of the seasonal changes - the Equinoxes and the Solstices.
Transiting of a Retrograde Planet: In your case Jupiter to Pluto - You are right, Jupiter is Rx then, but this actually means you get the transit 3 times - once already happened when Jupiter was in range of your Pluto the first time, the second one happens on the Retrograde and the third one happens when Jupiter is direct again and before it catches up to itself in October. Jupiter-Pluto Transits are some of the absolute best ones you can possibly have, especially trines and conjunctions (as well as aspects in the Elevations and Sun Chart). If you need to compete for something and hope to win the prize, then this is the BEST aspect to look for. Also remember no aspect operates in a vaccuum - they combine with each other to create an overall picture. Sometimes even challenging aspects are part of a very useful overall picture. The worst things of all to watch out for are: the T-square, especially if Saturn is involved, and debilitated planets (in detriment or fall) as well as (some) Retrograde trouble. But Retrograde Jupiter is NOT a problem - not at all! Just a very specific picture with specific Karma attached to it.
I specialize in Electional Astrology - planning for best success, and would specifically look for ways to harness this energy for your success. You can look back at what was happening the first time this transit took place to get a better idea of what the next two will mean. But ultimately there are two ways to approach Astrology transits (and life in general).
One way is: Life happens (or shit happens) approach and is passive - “hey what can I do, life just ‘happened to me’”. This is a rudderless way to live life and leans heavily on the idea of Destiny. With this approach, we would look at a transit as happening to the person. I think it is something of a cop out, because I believe we are all responsible for the quality of the life we have - it is the result of our choices and decisions - and what we make of what we’ve got.
The other way is: Taking responsibilty for what you want and using what’s available to get you there. This is Electional Astrology - using the transits to help you get where you want to go. I don’t discount the idea of karma and destined meetings or even obstacles. These are part of the lifepath with it’s unique gifts, challenges and opportunities for growth. In this approach we would look at a transit as a window of energy that represents a time to take advantage of or a lesson to be absorbed and learned. This is empowering and supposes that we all have Free Will and potential mastery over our own destiny.
For me, Astrology is ONLY useful when we suppose Free Will. In my weekly Horoscope I take the other elements - Planetary Elevation and Sun Charts into consideration (as I do in every session I do) and, as far as I know I am the only person out there who does this. However, due to the nature of a Horoscope and how it works, I can only write from the perspective of what is happening to each sign, it’s not possible to write it any differently. I am currently writing a book that will give a more full perspective on how to USE Astrology practically and usefully. As a subscriber you will get the first notification when this and other learning tools are available.
The Question: My birthday is July 16, 1963 I was born at 5:43 pm. Victoria, B.C. Canada. My question is which direction should I go for in a career move. I’m very undecided, I know it’s in the service industry-helping people. Not sure if I should go to school to become a Naturalpathic Doctor or find a regular job in my community. HELP! Thank you! PEACE - Melanie
The Answer: First of all, I can’t really do justice to this big of a question - what are your career talents - in this short format. But I will give you my first impressions. Just remember that this is too big and important of a question to answer with only a small amount of attention.
Looking at your chart, you have a Great Big Grand Trine in Water Signs right in the middle of your Chart. This gives you easy blessings but not necessarily a huge amount of drive! In it Chiron, Venus and Neptune are not only trining but applying as well - which makes this a very powerful blessing and huge spiritual protection. You will certainly have the compassion, caring and bedside manner necessary to make a great Doctor or healer, and you will want to do something healing and of benefit to the world and humanity - you are altruistic. And because Venus is involved with Neptune here, you definitely are capable of making money from the field of medicine and healing. *NOTE* Read my posts on this years Eclipses because they are impacting your Chiron in Pisces and the Eclipses are all about health and healing all year long.
The most noticable thing about your chart from my point of view is how very filled with easy aspects it is. Easy aspects give easy blessings, but not necessarily a world beating amount of inner drive. Your biggest (and almost only) challenge is the squares to the Moon which help give you some drive and ambition, but also create frustration and emotional obstacles, as well as inconsistent levels of concentration. I would say that you have everything you need to achieve anything you desire, however you might sometimes be your own biggest obstacle! Something unconscious may stand in your way (the Moon) and this makes it a challenge to get to the bottom of things or to understand what the problem might be.
I would suggest doing inner work, like hypnotherapy sessions and of course a full Astrology Session will give you a LOT more information.
——————————————————————
The Question: I’ve also got a powerful Sun Chart as well, I think. Can you check it out for me. Born 10:11 am, September 3, 1964. Thanks, Rebecca
The Answer: Hmm, your Helicentric Chart is very interesting and has a lot going on in it. You know that I look at Sun Charts (Helio Centric Charts) as the destiny Chart. You have a Grand Trine in yours (great) and a multiple T-square (not so great). The bottom line here is that your Destiny is what you make of it (but then that’s usually the case). The Grand Trine gives you a great headstart and a lot of help in business and making money since it is composed of Jupiter, Pluto and the Asteroid Ceres. You can certainly get whatever you want (probably from whomever you want)! But the Heliocentric T-square is too complex to go into in this format. The upshot is that you must be careful not to get too swept into fantasy or to take the ‘easy way out.’ There’s always a price to pay, especially when something seems too easy. I might recommend you become a writer or some kind of communicator since that is what will balance your chart out in the long run.
Also in your Destiny (Helio Centric Chart) your Mars is sitting there all alone and completely unaspected - and so are Venus and Saturn. A very interesting relationship with your actions and values, and the rules of society. There are some real lessons of destiny here for you. Rules, Actions and your own inner moral compass are all the highlights of those destined experiences. Very interesting!
Of course I can only go into detail in a private session, but yours is definitely one of the more complicated Sun Charts that I’ve seen!
The Question: Everything I have read about my son’s chart suggests problems with family/mother. It worries me for our future! He (son) is June 13, 2003, 8:07PM, Cookeville, TN. I (mom) am February 6, 1969, 11:21AM, Laurel, Maryland. Dad is February 6, 1972, 7:30pm, Cookeville, TN. (Yeah, I know! Mom and Dad share a birthday!) My son and I definitely have a telepathic link, he seems to read my mind  but he doesn’t know it yet, he’s only 3.5 years-old. He seems VERY familiar to me, if past lives exist, then we share this. Is there any information/concerns you can share concerning our relationship in reading our charts? Also, any guiding words of wisdom on how to raise this boy? What career path would he be suited for? Thanks so much for your interesting site and the opportunity to ask a question!
Sara
The Answer: First of all - Stay away from ‘Cook Book’ Astrology!! It will only give you a small portion of the picture and leave you more confused than when you started! Looking at your son’s chart I don’t see any horrible Saturn Aspects which is the #1 indicator for problems with the father. In fact his Saturn is extremely well aspected which suggests a very good relationship with authority figures and the ability to focus, be organized and work hard. You may think that Saturn in Cancer is the problem, and it’s true Saturn isn’t too comfortable in Cancer, but that isn’t as important when the Saturn is getting as much help as his does from the Aspects (which are more important than the signs).
As far as the relationship with Mom (you), his Moon conjuncts Pluto and both planets are part of a Grand Trine to Jupiter and the Asteroid Pallas Athena. The Moon Pluto conjunction can explain the psychic connection and the feeling of past life recognition. You also have strong Mercury Moon connections between you, which will add to your ability to communicate unconsciously. AND, if that wasn’t enough his Neptune is nearly on your Sun which will make him able to read your wants and also make him want to give you what you want! He is a deeply instinctual person. He will percieve you (Mom) as being very intense, but this will teach him not to be afraid of his own power and he is likely to achieve a position of power and authority easily in his life. The biggest challenge here with you is making sure he respects your authority. But he definitely needs to be allowed to pursue his own interests.
Actually, your son has a very blessed chart without a lot of huge challenges. The biggest problems I see are perhaps a tendency towards self-sabotage and the challenges between Mars conjunct Uranus squaring Mercury with Uranus squaring Venus. Unpredictablity, breaking rules and the desire to shock people. He’s a rebel at heart. But this also indicates a stormy relationship between his Mom and Dad ;-o — So my best suggestion is for you to be as stable as possible!! Intensity and rebellion are only problems when they aren’t given an appropriate outlet, so he needs to be allowed to express the intense side of his nature in whatever form he is drawn to - marital arts, drama, psychic development.
Otherwise, an Astrology Reading can give you much more detail as well as copies of all your Charts, your Sun charts and a recording for you and your child to refer to in the future.
The Question: Hi Aura,
You do have the most refreshing, unusual and complete “take†on astrology that I have witnessed. Having said that, here are two questions involving solar eclipses. My birthdate is (OK, I hate saying this!,) 8/9/1942, Columbus, Ohio, 1:37am. On May 30/31/2003 a solar eclipse hit my Gemini ascendant with Saturn & Uranus conjuncting. Difficult, difficult circimstances followed. Still dealing with them, but understanding them somewhat. It was hell & I did not even see what the circumstances or consequences would be, even though I knew that it was happening. I stayed up all night during the eclipse, speaking to my Higher Self & meditating. Too late. The path that I had chosen was wrong & I knew it. Now, I will be having my Neptune (28+ Virgo)in the fifth house opposed by this eclipse. I know that it involves my children who I love so much, but we have taken different paths. I have known for several years that my relationship with my two beloveds must make a major change in some way. I have been consciously on a spiritual path, most likely since birth. They are not. They are fabulous people, very brilliant, very successful & do everything “right†in the outer world. I have been told inwardly that there would be a break with them for many, many years. No special people allowed for me & I must give my life over to the Creator, no matter how much it hurts. I mostly hurt and feel guilty from being distant from three beautiful grandchildren.
Any advice? I could sure use it. This is very painful & I need to know that I am on the correct track.
Thank you so very much for any advice or knowledge you may see in this instance.
Very truly yours,
Maryanne
The Answer: First of all, thank you Maryanne.
Well this is half an Astrology Question and half not. First the Astrology part: Any Eclipse that involves Saturn will be a really difficult one, as you said it was for you. But the interesting thing here is that the Eclipse hit Saturn and Uranus. Saturn is the Rulemaker and Uranus is the Rulebreaker. Both connect to the Root Chakra which is the primal level of existence, and survival issues. This primal level operates under the divine law, “The law of laws.” which basically states that we must become aware of the laws and work within them - or suffer the consequences. Everything on earth and in the Universe operates under sets of laws. Gravity, for example is inescapable on planet Earth. So, beyond the circumstaces you are working through, the lesson here is for you to get perfectly clear about the laws of you life and how you are either blindly obeying false laws (not based on spiritual truth) or blindly rebelling against actual laws that must be obeyed. This requires getting clear about what those laws are, and how to work with them to your benefit. Of course the challenge is trying to see that which you may not be aware of, sometimes outside help can be necessary.
Second is your question about the current Eclipse opposed to your Neptune in the 5th. Please refer to my Eclipse Interpretations Guidelines post to see how I suggest you look at it. Basically Neptune can mean a lot of things - and your children is not necessarily the area where it will manifest. What IS true, and what IS based on divine law is the truth that whatever you focus on will expand. So if you don’t want problems with your kids, then stop focusing on that idea. Remember, focusing on problems expands them. If you want a good relationship with them - then focus on your common ground and your love for them. One thing that is certain is that if you keep your focus where it is right now, then you will keep having the problems you are having. The good news here is that all you have to do is take command of the ship that is your life and steer it somewhere else!
And finally, perhaps it is a good idea to rethink your idea of spirit or god or universe. After all, who want’s to live under the tyranny of spiritual cruelty that keeps you apart from what you love. If you believe this to be true, then I guarantee that it will be. If you change your concepts and bring them into alignment with divine truth - then these problems do not have to be true - not by a long shot. But in order for anything to change, you must be willing to captain your ship and take it to clearer waters, or get the outside assistance that will show you how.
The Question: CAN YOU HELP ME I WAS BORN MARCH 8 1976 858 AM.IM BEYOND DEPRESSED I DONT KNOW WHAT IS MY TALENT BUT I HAVE SO MANY WISHES. The Answer: You are a Pisces. Guy #1 that you talk about is a Taurus and based on your birth-dates your Sun’s are exactly sextile each other. The sextile creates a lot of sexual chemistry, but by themselves, not enough substance for a really lasting relationship. Looking at his chart, he appears to be very sexual, and charismatic but with a hard streak in his personality - which is not easy for a Pisces. So it created a mild sense of rapport between you, but beyond that you lacked deeper values and substance to glue you together on a deep level. The hard, but empowering choice here is for you to let go of it completely - no matter how hard it is. You say yourself that he doesn’t love you - so let it go, there are lot’s of fish in the sea.
Guy #2 is far more generally compatible, as a Scorpio with his Sun trine your Sun. This is one of the best Sun-Sun combinations possible, so you made a good choice in that way. And from his chart, he certainly appears to be a much sweeter, family oriented guy. But at 13-15 years old, you were WAY too young to make any permanent decisions. This one was a good learning experience and he should have taught you that you never need to accept less - ever.
When I look at your chart, it appears to me that your problems don’t stem from either guy #1 or guy #2, but from your own inner conflicts. The squares in your chart indicate a tendency to self-sabotage and shoot yourself in the foot just when you get close to a dream or goal. This also has some roots in your early childhood or parental patterning. Ultimately, your choice to keep emotionally connected to Guy #1 certainly looks like self sabotage to me. This is a life pattern for you - and it will not change unless you do some inner work to resolve your inner conflict. There is some internal reason why you create drama in your love life and this drama keeps you from living your real destiny. The fastest way that I have seen to resolve these types of inner conflicts is the healing and hypnotherapy work that I do with my clients.
