Our world is on the cusp of change, according to the Astrological markers. Right now, as of the end of July 2010 we have the following planets on the edge or going over the edge of one sign in to another: Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune, Jupiter and Mars.
People are often confused about the cusp of a sign. We think that we are a ‘watered down’ version of the sign if we are born on the cusp. For example, one woman I met said “Oh, I’m two signs.” “Oh really?” I pressed her for clarification, she said that since she was born on November 22nd she was both Scorpio and Sagittarius. I had to clarify for her that this isn’t really how it works. I explained to her that it is necessary to actually examine your NATAL CHART in order to know which sign you were really born under – since this changes a bit from year to year – those general guidelines you find in books aren’t really accurate. On top of this, I had to also explain to her that at the end and the beginning of each sign is when it is MOST INTENSE. There is no such thing as a watered down hybrid between the two. Other planets in your NATAL CHART may modify this – but not the Sun. The Sun for her was either intensely Scorpio orintensely Sagittarius – not both and not half of each! After speaking to her for 2 minutes it was pretty obvious to me that she was a SAGITTARIUS and not a Scorpio. She was just too bubbly and lighthearted to be an intense Scorpio type, but she was an intense Sag type.
The world is experiencing something very similar right now. With so MANY planets changing costumes, as it were, this year, we are under nothing less than an entire RE-casting of the world players in our lives. The changes are radical, they are dramatic and even though it happens gradually, like the waves changing from High tide to low tide – it is still both unstoppable and irreversible. You see, when a planet changes from one sign to the next, it often turns around and revisits the past sign again through it’s retrograde motion. Most people are familiar with Retrograde Mercury, but ALL planets turn retrograde at some point or another – except the Sun and the Moon.
Right now, Saturn is finally RETURNING to Libra, he entered Libra last year, then changed directions and went back into Virgo, and now is making his final and permanent change into the Libra energy. The other cusp planets – Uranus, Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron – are or will go through something similar. These are also ALL planets that effect group and social level dynamics, including family. None of them are personal planets. What this means is that society is going through a revision. It will not be the same when we come out the other side (about 12-18 months from now).
These changes started back in 2009 – remember the stock market crash? This was just one of a series of deep-level changes that are taking place. The short version of what these changes are about and what they mean at the big picture level is that the post-modern society is changing radically. Many people still don’t see this (although I find it hard to understand HOW people can cling to illusions of the past when change is so obvious to me).
People will need to work together in groups. We are getting ready to experience disruptions to the flow of goods. Local will be better. Teams will be better (and necessary). More earth disruptions are happening. It will different in different places, but being closer to nature will be hugely important.
Specifics for each person are as individual as you are, and can’t be addressed in this article. These are just guidelines to help people think towards the future and plan for it. Individual forecasts must be looked at privately. In the meantime, be ready to make a new kind of life, and embrace a deeper level of connection to your environment and community – because this is where things are headed.

That same week, May 25th Chiron turns Retrogade, then on the 26th Neptune Turns Retrograde TOGETHER AT ALMOST THE SAME DEGREE in Aquarius (the sign of the masses and politics).
Then in August – just before the Democratic Convention – we have a pair of Eclpses; one Solar Eclipse and One Lunar Eclipse. Each of these things means something. But TOGETHER they paint a picture.
People keep saying that the Democratic race has race as it’s core issue. But I disagree. The conflict is NOT about Black V White, it is about Blue V White (collar that is). In other words Obama is the White candidate – he represents the white collar segment of the population. Clinton is Blue – she represents the Blue collar worker. McCain is Red – he represents the status quo and conservatism. OH, look America is red, white and blue after all. Just not all at the same time.
I personally think that if we must spend the next 4 or 8 years discussing race and reverend Wright I will have to shoot myself. If all we can talk about is race, this means we are all racist! The opposite of that conversation is not more of the same, it is something completely different and new. I want us all to get PAST the race consciousness. I may be dreaming, I know that. But still, I am tired of this.
THE BOTTOM LINE: I look at the three remaining candidates as representing different planets. This has NOTHING to do with their Horoscopes or Sun Signs. When someone becomes a public figure they represent one of the Archetypes of the human mind (these archetypes are also the planets of the solar system). These are the ones that the 3 remaining candidates represent.
McCain: The Red (collar) candidate is SATURN- he’s all about the rules, the status quo and the idea of being ‘conservative’. It remains to be seen weather he can beat the red (ink) that the current admin is leaving behind. Pro war (red) McCain wants to follow through on the Republican agenda. He’s the Daddy figure, rule maker, authority figure, expected style of candidate that Saturn loves. He is the classic, the standard and the traditional. Fighting is always a staple of the ‘red collar’ idealogy.
Obama: The White (collar) candidate is JUPITER – he’s all about philosophy, big expansive speeches and the notion of sweeping change. Can he deliver what he promises? Who knows. Jupiter sometimes makes empty promises, just how far can good intentions get us? Obama’s an unproven quantity. His popularity among college students is again a very Jupiter theme. He is about advantage, opportunity and success.
Clinton: The Blue (collar) candidate is URANUS – she is an innovation, she speaks about the needs of the masses and those who work for a living. Her core message is about unions and programs that serve large numbers of people, like health care – all of which are subjects of Uranus. Complicated, contradictory, unpredictable and revolutionary are all Uranus qualities, so we never know what to expect with her.
The August Eclipse’s WILL UPSET THE APPLECART. Get ready for a heated season because the fight is ON. Eclipse’s will reveal secrets in AUGUST and remove powerful figureheads from the picture. All of this makes for some great NEWS HEADLINES.
RIGHT NOW and into mid JUNE: Lies and manipulations of words are EVERYWHERE. News is distorted and we would be smart NOT TO BELIEVE WHAT WE’RE BEING TOLD. The picture is not clear until September.
The wild card is always the people themselves. Candidates can slit their own throats (the way that Guiluini did), the public is often manipulated by the media. These things cannot be predicted by Astrology. Free Will always exists. These are the trends, the rest remains to be seen. What do you think?
Roaming free upon the plains, wandering hither and yon this strapping young CENTAUR boldly goes where no man, er, horse has gone before. Or at least that’s the way our SAGITTARIAN friends imagine it. If she could have her way she would discover and immerse herself in every new culture, continent and galaxy available.
Endlessly fascinated by the places and people they have yet to meet, SAG’S are born explorers. It’s as if the world doesn’t really exist until they have turned over every rock, examined every leaf and poured themselves into every nook and cranny of it. They are born observers and commentators, and wherever you find groups of people gathered together, the CENTAUR will be drawn, as if by magnetic force, right into the center of the action. They are energetic to a fault, causing would-be traveling companions to drop like flies from exhaustion. Often you will find her in the center of the action, as, say, a professional athlete. But if injury or lack of athletic talent keeps him off the court, he’ll be commentating, making jokes and generally rousing the crowd to a state of enthusiastic fervor, or hysterical laughter. Oh yes, these people can be very, very funny.
As physically restless as the SAGITTARIUS usually is, he is equally restless mentally, seeking to engage and understand as many points of view and philosophy as can be crammed into one life span of experience. She may love to read, but she longs to go to the places she reads about, it’s only fear that holds her back. And it is always experience that the SAG native seeks out. You see, to some extent every last one of them feels like a Stranger in a Strange Land. And as such they do all they can to grok the local customs. It is in fact astonishing how many CENTAURS there are who move to a country other than the one they were born in, or who marry someone from a different culture than their own. Somehow they all feel like they didn’t quite fit into the mores and customs of their origins and so they strike out into the world to understand themselves and the place they came from. It is this kind of attitude that lands men and women on the moon, and teaches us new languages, cultural experiences and philosophies. Broadening horizons, for themselves, and everyone they have contact with is their secret purpose. Usually they disguise it very well under a magnanimous, JUPITERIAN smile, and an optimistic wave. Oh, they can be zealous, but you usually enjoy their company too much to take offense.
They are perhaps some of the luckiest people you know. Things just seem to fall into place for them. As he jaunts off into the sunset with barely two nickels to rub together you wonder what will ever become of the cockeyed, gawky lug, stumbling off into the sunset as he trips over his own oversized feet. And then 6 months, or 10 years later he returns with a Galleon filled with gold and raucous tales of adventure to share with you. But then that money disappears as easily as it arrived and he’s off into the sunset again. One might even get the feeling that to a CENTAUR, having a good story to tell is worth more than all the tea in China. And you would be right. These are our natural storytellers, and as such, often find themselves loved and revered for being so damned entertaining.
GEMINI, the natural compliment for SAG teaches them much about communication. You see people get annoyed when the Heroine of the story gallops off without a word. Ultimately, the philosopher in CENTAUR’S clothing learns to make an impact on people both hither and yon, by communicating with them, using words and sharing ideas. And then our Hero takes his place at the table as translator bringing ideas together to form something greater than before.
If you love one of these wandering adventurers, don’t even think about tying him or her down. Keep a bag packed at all times and get ready to explore the world. Get really good at telling jokes, and keep them chasing you. Make yourself unavailable, and exotic. Your CENTAUR will gladly play hide and seek with you over and over again, and exhaust you with the sheer athleticism of their lovemaking. Maybe you won’t have to play hide after all, maybe you’ll just need a break!
In the Greek myths JUPITER was the father of the gods. He rules the heavens, which is equivalent to our conscious waking reality. His brother’s NEPTUNE and PLUTO rule the dream world and the underworld respectively. He was the one to grant wishes and requests, or hurl thunderbolts in disapproval. In mythology JUPITER took power by castrating his father URANUS, who was at that time the ruler of all the godly realms. URANUS had himself taken power by castrating his father. This is a good example of how the law of karma, or cause and effect works. In Astrology JUPITER represent blessings, gifts or things that come easily to us. However, at times the things that come easily to us are at someone else’s expense, just ask his father URANUS. The god JUPITER was also very lusty and seductive. He was constantly taking on disguises in order to seduce human women, he was very prolific in his conquests, leaving behind children all over the world. His good luck with women was clearly not a blessing to his wife, or his fatherless children. This was the source of many arguments and retaliations between he and his wife. They were usually at war over their philosophical differences. JUPITER governs all activities relating to the law, higher education, the mass media, long journeys, religion and philosophy. As the lawmaker on Mount Olympus, his job is to govern the activities of the group as a whole, so that the individuals may better function together. His influence is to seek the governing principal that holds various different people, even cultures together. For this reason issues of religious, cultural, ethnic and racial groupings or conflicts fall under his domain.
JUPITER is the largest planet in our solar system, making it easy to see that it represents expansion. In fact the planet is mostly gas. Gas tends to expand infinitely, when not held in check by some external force. The influence of JUPITER on the personality as seen in the Natal chart is similar. When not held in check JUPITER energy can lead to over-optimism, exaggeration, over-eating or numerous other excesses. Balanced JUPITER energy, however, lends buoyancy, light-heartedness and humor to the personality. Jupiter also bestows luck on his natives. Jupiter luck can seem to be random or strangely specific in it’s manifestation, but in truth every event is a reaction to some past action. For this reason JUPITER in the Natal Chart represents the good karma that we have accumulated.
Every person has JUPITER somewhere in their Birth Chart, however Sagittarius and Pisces are only signs governed by his influence. Sagittarius natives tend to have buoyant personalities, easily expecting things to go in their favor. Such optimism is often self-fulfilling. For this reason Sagittarius has a reputation for being humorous, fun and outgoing. However the archer can constantly be seeking new targets to shoot at, and their often-reckless attitude can lead to certain blindness to the wounds that their arrows may have left on other people. The Sagittarius is the blunt person who can say or do some of the most insensitive things, and then wonder what you’re so upset about. But in the next minute they’ll have you rolling on the floor with laughter, or hopping on the bandwagon of some world-beating scheme they’ve cooked up. They have a way of making even the most ridiculous things seem possible, even easy to accomplish. But sometimes they can lack common sense. They can often live a rosy world of their own making, oblivious to the mundane concerns of those around them.
Pisces is also governed by JUPITER in my Chakra Astrology, this is because Pisces people are very lucky at putting together group concerns and ideas, they often have a certain mesmerizing power and charisma that puts them in leadership positions, weather or not they’ve asked for them. Many of the most highly successful people I’ve ever met are Pisces: they just seem to have a lucky nack for finding the right opportunity at the right time and filling a need that the group has. This leads them to succeed – as long as they don’t slide into the many temptations that success brings their way. When they do that, we find them partying all night, losing their beautiful figures and generally wasting their talents.
All Sagittarians and Pisceans will have to deal with JUPITER’s influence on their lives. This includes issues of over-indulgence, the tendency to exaggerate, conflicts of philosophy with others and the resolution of the castration complex (even for women).
